Perhaps I am just beating a dead horse here...but I figured it was worth a post. Of late it seems that Image Burn is taking a lot longer to Burn and Verify. In the past my burning time was about 18 minutes.... and now it's more than doubled.

Checked out all the usual suspects Firmware update for LiteOn burner.

DMA enabled on Primary and Secondary

Using good media:Tayo Yuden

Burning at 4-6x

Could it be that the burner is finally on it's last legs? Have done about 1000 burns on this hardware.(At work so I don't have the model # available.)

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Follow the post in the FAQ about dealing with DMA issues - i.e. uninstall the IDE controller entry in Device Manager and reboot.

If that doesn't work, get back to us with the log etc as jmet said.

did you delete the controller and reboot?

you have dma problems

Cornholio7 and all, thanks for your time and patience. Just to make sure...my Device Manager reads:

IDEA ATA/ATAPI Controllers

Primary IDE Channel

Primary IDE Channel

Primary IDE Channel

Secondary IDE Channel

Secondary IDE Channel

Secondary IDE Channel

Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

The last entry Standard Dual........is the one I wish to uninstall and reboot?

Thanks again

You only have 1 entry that says 'controller' ?

Just delete them all until that entire branch is empty, then reboot - but start with the controller because it'll remove the channels along with it.

Lightning UK!. Thanks so much for your response..and sorry for the insipid questions , but here goes:

The last three items in Bold are the ones I need to delete(uninstall)..not the entire tier.

And, if I am unable to resolve the issue, is this a harbinger of more evil things to come. Worst case scenario, I can live with longer burning times. The DVD's that I have backed up,albeit taking longer, have all been flawless burns.

Yes, uninstall all the controller entries and then reboot. If it asks you to reboot before you've deleted all 3, just click no.

Thanks again UK Lightning!. Got 3 more hours of work and a blizzard to contend with before I can follow your advice.

Will post results.
