AEN Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 11Feb2008 Greetings. I am experienced but not (yet) knowledgeable about all things CD burning. ImgBurn seems to be all things CD burning. Usually I have no problem with the following two issues, but I cannot find any relevant ImgBurn (IB) menu items. 1) Every time I burn a bootable (usually a PE Builder bootable) iso I set the software (ImgBurn or DP Simple Burn) to verify after burn. There are at least two locations in IB where one can de/select eject after burn. I do not have any eject after burn buttons selected, yet IB always ejects the CD after burning before verifying. I have to push the CD back into the drive. I would prefer if IB did not eject the CD after burning before verifying. Can anyone advise what is going on here? 2) I have not found anywhere in IB where one can de/select Finalize after burn. I only Finalize burned CDs when I am not burning a test CD. In any case I have not found anywhere in IB where one can de/select Finalize after burn. Can anyone advise if/where one can select Finalize in IB? Any insights appreciated. Regards, AEN Æ
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 1. The option is 'Cycle tray before Verfiy'. 2. You can't.
blutach Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 On 1, it is much better to cycle the tray. This allows the media to reinitialise and ensures it can be read. Regards
AEN Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) 12Feb2008 Greetings. Thanks for the replies. Of course now I am curious. Does ImgBurn Finalize never or every time? I do not know enough about nor understand Finalizing to know what exactly to make of that one cannot de/select Finalize with ImgBurn. Would anyone care to learn me something? Why does ImgBurn not give the Finalize option? Any insights appreciated. Regards, AEN Edited February 12, 2008 by AEN
dontasciime Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 ImgBurn does not allow data multisession, adding of data. Cd's or Dvd's It burns what you put on it and then closes track/disc etc. use a usb flash pen Or if you still want to use cd's in this way [adding of data on new session add to etc]then use nero.
AEN Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 13Feb2008 Greetings. Thanks for the reply. I'm not even exactly sure what data multi-session is. I could guess ... maybe even correctly. I have never tried to add to a CDRW after I have already burned to the CDRW. I suppose multi-session is similar (not exactly) to adding to a CDRW via DLA CD software? In CD jargon there is Closing & there is Finalizing. I'm curious to know - does ImgBurn only close or also Finalize every time? For whatever it is worth to anyone I mention freeware DP Simple Burn (DPSB) as an alternative to Nero (which is not freeware). Possibly ImgBurn might recommend DPSB as well as or instead of Nero? DPSB does not try to be all things Disc Burning like ImgBurn (which is not a negative statement against anyone). Whatever. Does anyone have a link or some positive reply about the ImgBurn PE plugin? The PE people already seem to have some sort of ImgBurn PE plugin, but I have not yet found exactly how/where one adds ImgBurn to PE. Any insights appreciated. Regards, AEN Æ

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 It closes and finalises. The disc is read-only after burning.
