Hi,

I have already seen a couple of threads about Portable ImgBurn, using some command line switches to make it save its settings to a file, instead of registry.

My question is: is it possible to somewhere download a portable version of ImgBurn, which does not need to be installed? It is pretty boring to install a new version every time it gets released: an option to download a .zip/.exe standalone file would be just great.

Thanks for answer,

Ondras

Pretty boring.... are you kidding me?!

Is once a year too often for you?

Can't handle a couple of mouse clicks?

I hate to be rude, but get real. The installer is used to tweak settings etc where I rename them, delete them and so on. Without it you get a big mess and no option to uninstall.

Hi,

thanks for response. When you look at the ImgBurn website, you can see that an update is available once or twice every month. This is much more frequent that once a year.

Next, the installer - my goal is that you _never_ use the installer. I don't want to include stuff in my registry, that's (also) why Portable applications are here. There is no need for uninstaller to 1) exist, 2) be mentioned anywhere in my system.

For several years, I do the following procedure:

1) run my virtual windows machine,

2) install latest imgburn,

3) copy the imgburn.exe binary to my primary system,

4) revert the virtual machine to previous state.

Please note that this standalone imgburn.exe binary works perfectly, which is a proof that no installation is needed (in accordance with other 'Portable' threads found on this board).

I really don't want to argue about my SW installation philosophy and I don't need other people's opinions about that. My original question was whether there is a way to simplify my procedure mentioned above, and I would like to stick with this question.

Thanks,

Ondras

Apart from the major release, the rest were mostly bugfixes and little addons. The program does not update all that frequently, and in any event, it takes less than 60 seconds to run the installer. If you don't like having stuff in add/remove programs, take it out via tweakui or something. But fer chrissakes, stop complaining!
