Hello,

I am trying to create a dvd using the ts_video files that I have on my hard drive. I follow the instructions correctly, however, the disk does not verify and when I play the DVD on a standalone player the DVD plays but the vertical tracking is off. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Tried to search for firmware updates for that model of burner for some days ago - but couldn't find anything for that burner.

Have you checked that you are in DMA mode and not in PIO mode? It's a very slow burning speed and your discs are rated for 8x burning.

Hello again,

Thank you each for your help. I have checked my DMA and everything appears normal in that area. Do you have another suggestion as to why it could be so slow?

Also, I'm sorry Chewie, but can you clarify what you mean by ritekF1?

Thanks for your help!!

that's the mid code of your blanks, it's where we find out if you are using good ones or bad ones

you asked what you might have been doing wrong?

with verbatim or taiyo yuden disks we could pretty well eliminate bad blanks as your problem and concentrate on other possibilities

When you say you've 'checked' DMA, do you really just mean exactly that? i.e. you 'looked' at it but didn't actually do anything?

It never hurts to follow the bit in the FAQ marked by the huge/bold 'Important' text. At least that would then be another thing you can rule out.

Thanks for the clarification Chewie, so verbatim disks are good?

Yes, lightning UK, unfortunately that is what it means. I will check out the FAQ to see if there is something I missed.

Not sure that this is the problem you are having, but I recently came across one of these drives in a laptop that I was working on, and while searching for firmware updates found this page that some other people were venting about this type of drive. It may be that you have a drive issue as well. Keep looking for firmware at the same time, and check with the computer vendor (not sure if you have a PC or laptop).
