Burnmiester Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 According to the properties in my device manager I show that I have redbook.sys drivers on my system, however according to imgburn my load order info shows upper device filter not found. Furthermore in my registry there is no reference to redbook. EVEN SIMULTANEOUSLY !! NOW I have a hard time just reading from either drive and burning is a hassle. In 1 drive I have to use dvd-r another drive dvd+r, AND now I have to throw away more disc then I'm keeping.. and theres more.... LOL sometimes I'll get a message saying operation complete and successful.... but the media is still blank.... AGHHAGHAHHHHHHHHH
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Do you use that drag to disc rubbish? If not, remove everything except gearaspiwdm and pxhelp20. Just add redbook back in manually if you like via regedit but I doubt that'll magically fix all your problems. You could always just uninstall your ide controller from device manager (i.e. the DMA fix). Then the controller / channels / drives would all be recreated from scratch.
Burnmiester Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 -------------------------------- I don’t use drag to disc at all,.. Anymore, used to with older version of Roxio. These must be remnant driver files. I do use Roxio 10, a Lot, so before I delete any of those drivers I should probably contact Roxio on the necessity of those files.... Be right back going to delete ide controllers REBOOT, test burning and post back Later, thank you for the quick response to this post. In reference to adding redbook.sys manually, just create new Binary Value??
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Those drivers are all dated 2005 so I doubt they're anything to do with Roxio 10. Even if they are (and you delete them), you can always just uninstall + reinstall Roxio to fix it. You shouldn't have to add redbook back in manually if you uninstall the controllers, windows will do it if it thinks it needs to.
Burnmiester Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 I followed your suggestions and uninstalled the ide controllers... load info still says Upper & lower Not found. .. also in the registry there is still no reference to redbook.sys next step?..... manually add redbook to registry...create new Binary value? (name UpperDevice filter, and lower device filer) and just modify to show redbook.sys? Isn't there someone else who has the same apparent corruption.. maybe they have a batch file that will fix registry issue properly.. Thank you again for you help and comments and any other imput will be greatly appreciated.. bythe way when I get redbook showing up I'll start deleting old drag drop stuff.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 You don't add the '.sys' bit, just 'redbook'. (Don't search for 'redbook.sys' either). And it has to go under the reg key for the drive itself, not the class.
Burnmiester Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Ooh Crud,... now I'm lost.. Which Drive, I have 2... and what is the key address... plus redbook shows up all over the registry, and in the properties in device manger, the only issue is according to imgburn the upper and lower device filter is not found. =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.0.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: [None Found] Upper Class Filter: pwd_2k Upper Class Filter: Cdralw2k Upper Class Filter: GEARAspiWDM Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: Cdr4_xp Lower Class Filter: PxHelp20 Lower Device Filter: [None Found] Filter Name: pwd_2k File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\pwd_2k.sys File Version: 8.0.5.41 File Description: Win2000 Framework for Packet Write Driver Product Name: Drag-to-Disc Product Version: 8.0.5.41 Company Name: Sonic Solutions Copyright: Copyright © 1994-2005 Sonic Solutions Filter Name: Cdralw2k File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\Cdralw2k.sys File Version: 8.0.0.212 File Description: CDRAL Place Holder Driver (see PxHelp) Product Name: Drag-to-Disc Product Version: 8.0.0.212 Company Name: Sonic Solutions Copyright: Copyright © 1994-2005 Sonic Solutions Filter Name: GEARAspiWDM File Name: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\GEARAspiWDM.sys File Version: 2.0.6.1 File Description: CD/DVD Class Filter Driver Product Name: GEAR.wrks Product Version: 8.xx [2.0.6.1] Company Name: GEAR Software Inc. Burnmiester Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 I fixed it!!! I opened the device manager and enabled to show hidden devices, This resulted in the same drives showing up several times. This is because i have moved my drives around. So I uninstalled all previous instances of the drives and WalLAh all is good. Thanks Again, Great forum and great software.
