I have a GGW-H10N Blu-ray burner with the current firmware v1.03

using Sony BD-RE 25G discs

 

In the settings I have selected: Prefer Format Without Spare Areas (*)

Disc formatted as displays:

HL-DT-ST BD-RE GGW-H10N 1.03 (Fibre)

Current Profile: BD-RE

 

Disc Information:

Status: Complete

Erasable: Yes

Sessions: 1

Sectors: 12,219,392

Size: 25,025,314,816 bytes

Time: 2715:27:17 (MM:SS:FF)

Supported Write Speeds: 2x

 

TOC Information:

Session 1...

-> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 - 12219391)

-> LeadOut (LBA: 12219392)

 

BD Disc Information:

Disc ID: SONY-ES1-02

Disc Type: BD-RE

 

Current Format Capacity:

Sectors: 12,219,392

I wrote to the disc and verified it and it played on my BDP-S500 player.

BTW...

 

I just burned the same image to a 50G Sony BD-RE and here is the log and it plays just great on the BDP-S500

The 50GB is a different dye, the 25GB didn't seem to burn too well on the drive, that's why it died and failed to reinitialise it.

 

It's the same thing that happens with DVDs. Some just work better than others. I have a H20L and I've had no problems so far with the Verbatim 25GB BD-RE discs.

 

You can try and do a format on the disc, just click Tools -> Drive -> Erase -> Full.

 

That may or may not work.

Thank you for the reply and I have been doing more research... and here is what I have found...

 

1. I create an img with ImgBurn.

2. I then write the img file and verify it to a Sony 25G BD-RE using ImgBurn

I get a message that is displayed on the TV screen when I insert the disc in the player is

If you're working from an image file I've no idea why one would work when the other doesn't.

 

Compare the state of the disc (via the disc info window) before and after burning with each program.

 

Are they the same?

 

Booktype doesn't apply to BD media.

I cannot reproduce the original problem I was having with the 25G I can now format them and write to them..

 

and I do not know why.... Thank you for your time... and your understanding....
