LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 What controller is that drive plugged in to? Put it on the motherboard's main chipset's sata controller and make sure it's running in SATA/ATA mode and not RAID or AHCI. You should also check for any motherboard bios updates and install the latest chipset drivers from whoever makes the chipset your board uses.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Quite often these new boards come with a 3rd party controller - i.e. by someone like jmicron. They're often not as compatible with optical drives as the proper ones (i.e. from intel or whoever makes the chipset - in your case, nvidia). Have you tried updating to the latest nvidia drivers? What about the bios updates? Basically, you shouldn't be getting 'no additional sense information' returned by the drive so it's likely that the real error has gone awol due to some software/hardware issue.
tarirodecai Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 BIOS updated. The problem is still here. On the other hand, I can
mmalves Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Have you looked here? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
muzickman Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hi there, Been using imgburn for a few months now and started having problems last night. I don't know if anyone can help me but I would gladly apreciate any. I would load an empty disc to be burned, and kept getting these error messages. This is the log from the last time. I 17:21:22 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! I 17:21:22 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 17:21:22 Total Physical Memory: 1,048,052 KB - Available: 587,124 KB I 17:21:23 Initialising SPTI... mmalves Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Try burning at 8x or 12x on a brand new blank disc. If that doesn't work, then try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks. As for the locking issue there's a post in the FAQ covering that.

I just upgraded this yesterday before I had problems. Is there something that I can do on windows. I've also tried different kinds of media and after loading comes up cd-drive. I just don't know what the problem is. Worked great before. Would cleaning the lens help or anything else help. Thanks ahead for the help.
spinningwheel Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Disc ID: CMC MAG. AM3 Your discs are crap...period. Get some Verbatims, made in Singapore, or some Taiyo Yudens and try again.

I have tried using Ritek or Ridata with the same results. Been using them for 4 yrs or more. Everytime I put a disc in (my computer drive goes from dvd-drive to cd-drive. Would a lens cleaning help at all or is this an issue with windows? I really liked using imgburn until this happened, and been using sony and other brand names blanks. I know the 2 name brands that you mentioned are good. I hope to get some help soon please. If it is not an imgburn issue, please direct me in a different direction. Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Ritek and Ridata are basically the same thing. You need to look at the dye the discs use, not the brand name on them. Yes, give a cleaning disc a go. If that still doesn't work, you really need to try some decent discs (Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden) before then just investing in a new drive. It's not an ImgBurn issue.
