that happens on both plextors something different happens on the Pioneer DVR 212

on that burner no image can be verified as correct .....

well the logged drive is a sata one

OS Vista U 64 SR1 + all pre and post SR1

and i created the ISO/MDS files with Image Burn

twist - they all burn on a 24inch imac from the same iso file using roxios toast ....

and the infamous Matshita UJ-85 "Superdrive"

i have to mention that i reduced the write speeds from 8x to 4x and even 2.4x on my PC with no effects

i rebooted the os several times and even tried it in safe mode - well that did not work at all.

there is not much software running that might interfer with IMG Burn except for

the Deamon Tools Agent no change after stopping the daemon agent and the service and/or Firefox.

and well i burned about 150 of the same brand and batch in the same drives over the last few weeks -

only 2 coasters because the windows explorer and firefox freezed.

and some 500 various TY's (manufactured by TY !!) last year with loss less then 2% mosty done by The OS

and or some inferiour Burn Proggies like NE*O.

any ideas ??? any software that can check the physical status of the drives ....

any software that can check the OS related drivers for burning ???

i will try Plextools Pro as well but i have wasted 30 Media till now.

Do you have any old/spare hdd's around the place?

If so, disconnect your main one and install an OS onto it with nothing but ImgBurn, then try again.

If it's hardware, it'll still fail. If not, at least you know where to start troubleshooting.

hi, thx for the fast response - even if it sounds like i want to mime the wise guy - it is statistically

quite improbable that all 3 burners start to misbehave at the same time - well could be the sata

controller(s) or the complete mobo but my educated hunch is of course the OS - even though it

worked fine for more that a year now ...

i'll inform you about the extra install ....

really strange is that i had SP1 installed on my other system for about a month and i did about 100 to 150 burns on various media with virtually no loss at all

i have not installed much in that month so it might stay a mystery ....

i will burn some other media just for the fun of it and then reinstall that SP1 thing again :)
