KISSMAD Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) I'm using the current version 2.4.1.0 on Win XP SP3 and I can no longer burn any DVDs with my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105 1.33. I even went back to version 2.4.0.0 and I still got the same errors. I even updated the burner firmware but I still had the same problem. Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format Retry Failed - Reason: Invalid Address For Write However I can still burn on my PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.04 but I don't like using it for burning. I always using my 105 for burning. ; //****************************************\\; ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 - Log; Monday, 19 May 2008, 19:55:14; \\****************************************//;;I 15:43:52 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started!I 15:43:52 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)I 15:43:52 Total Physical Memory: 523,800 KB - Available: 267,284 KBI 15:43:52 Initialising SPTI...I 15:43:52 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 15:43:52 Found 1 DVD-RW and 1 DVD Edited May 20, 2008 by KISSMAD
mmalves Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Please make sure you're using the latest ImgBurn, downloaded from the ImgBurn.com mirror. I think your Pioneer DVR-105 burner is worn out. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your Pioneer DVR-108 burner and you should be able to use it
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Give the drive a clean and try some Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden media (they're better than the TTH02 stuff you're using).
KISSMAD Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 I used Nero and it burned without any problems with XP SP3. So the problem is not my drive or media.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 The drive is what returned that error code. If there wasn't a 'write error' (i.e. some problem writing to the media), it wouldn't have said it. If Nero works, try setting ImgBurn to use the 'Incremental' write type instead of SAO/DAO. When drives are having problems burning that can sometimes get around it.
dontasciime Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Replace your drive it's cheaper than replacing failing media. Btw my pioneer 105 is fine in xp sp3 and ImgBurn.

KISSMAD Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 I uninstalled SP3 and I have no problems with imgburn. Installed SP3 and the problems happen again.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 If 10/10 work on SP2 and 10/10 fail on SP3 then it would appear your ide/atapi driver is messed up. ImgBurn follows the MMC specs which are nothing to do with drivers, the OS or anything else. It should burn equally well under any operating system that you can get it running under. Personally I'd try the drive with some 8x Taiyo Yuden TYG02 discs and if it's still failing then I'd throw it in the bin. The 105 pretty much belongs in a museum now.
Guy Fawkes Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 If 10/10 work on SP2 and 10/10 fail on SP3 then it would appear your ide/atapi driver is messed up.Using a Pioneer DVR-106D I can confirm the same problem. Using "Incremental burn" fixed it for CDs and DVDs. Thanks for that!BTW, this is my "work PC," so I don't get to choose the hardware. At home, I use nothing slower than 16X DVD burners.
