chubbychaserlee Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Hi I installed the new version and it goes through the writing process no problem but the disc only plays a few seconds before an error message is shown. The back of the DVD disc doesn't show a smooth one-track write as it usually does but it shows written 'tracks' between blanks spaces on the disc. I have tried using the old version which was previously ok but now that is doing the same. I uninstalled the new version to go back to how it was but the old version is still not right. Any ideas please? Thanks in advance. Lee
mmalves Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Please post a log of that burn (you can find it at Help/ImgBurn Logs). And please keep using the latest ImgBurn version (get from the ImgBurn.com mirror).
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 The old one doesn't work because the 'version' of the program was never the problem in the first place.
dontasciime Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 The old one doesn't work because the 'version' of the program was never the problem in the first place. Exactly! Your burner is crapping out on you or the media or both.
chubbychaserlee Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 Fair enough but it's a remarkable coincidence that things went wrong as soon as I installed the new version. Maybe I should uninstall the old one and re-install the new version....? Here's the latest log details.........the 4th entry ( Drive F:\......) is something else that is new. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 - Log ; Monday, 26 May 2008, 17:22:28 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 15:35:44 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! Cynthia Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Do you have a log from the version that resulted in the problems? If that's an original NEC writer, there is a later firmware to install. http://www.sonynec-optiarc.eu/en/support-s...-nd-series.html No disc in the writer Tray closed All other programs closed

chubbychaserlee Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 That was the latest log file for the most recent problem, Cynthia. It is an original NEC so I will do what you suggest. I'll also try and install the new version again and see how it goes, mmalves. Thanks.
dontasciime Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Buy a new writer maybe even a new dvd player. If after update it does the same but before that change your media ritek g05 are crap.
LOCOENG Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I 15:36:23 Destination Device: [1:1:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A 1.06 (E:) (ATA) Certainly is an oldie.
chubbychaserlee Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 I've installed the latest firmware and re-installed the new version and things seem ok now. It's even writing to -R discs when previously it only allowed +R for some reason! Thanks for the advice on the old writer I have and about getting better discs. I have several types of discs but I will bear that in mind when I buy some more (I just need to know where from!). Thanks everyone for the help. Lee
