I have had this problem with a few ISOs that ive been trying to burn. They would start burning normally, and suddenly stop somewhere in the midst of writing, the write speed would go to 0. ive also noticed the same isos will stop at the same completion % every time, if i try to burn them again.

does anybody know why this is happening?

ok, im not sure if this is exactly wat you want but:

this iso went to 75% and then stopped writing. after around 18 minutes I aborted.

Have you tried burning at 8x or 12x?

Maybe the 4x write strategy just doesn't work (4x is what it would use because it's the closest available to the 1x you selected)

Try burning with 'Test Mode' enabled too, that'll at least tell you the system should be capable of burning the disc. (Turn it off again to do a real burn)

How are the buffers when the drive appears to get stuck, are they both still full up?

yes, they are full.

I havent tried doing test burns or burning at higher speeds, but ill try those and get back to you.

i have another question though, about something else. Just now i tried burning an iso with lots of stuff running in the background and my buffers were going up and down (normally they stay full until the burning is finished). I was wondering if this is bad at all for the image. Like, would i get the same quality disc if i burned it like this, than if the buffers were full the whole time? (might be a stupid question but i dont know what the buffers do :S) Heres what part of the log looks like:
