I have looked and searched and found information on each problem i can see i have with individual solutions but none have worked. This has happened just suddenly on a fresh install, the system is subject to few changes. I am using verbatim disks, the first 4 or 5 burns were ok then suddenly i can not burn successfully. My hdds are defraged, i dont have anything running out of the usual kaspersky and aim, smart has not detected any probs with the hdds. going to run a stress test and memtest now.. any suggestions are appreciated

I 18:11:53 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started!

Can you try with a normal data image?

Adjust the write speed down to 8x or 12x.

Why are you getting soooo many buffer problems? Are you sure you've got the right drivers on for your ide/sata controller? Drives don't normally show up as 'ATAPI'.

What controller is the drive connected to? What motherboard do you have?

Ive only burned ISOs... I checked the ram and no problems.. the drive is on a seperate IDE channel then the HDDs, and ATAPI,

Definition of: ATAPI drive

Refers to a CD-ROM or tape drive that uses the ATA (IDE) interface. See ATAPI and IDE.

what should they be coming up as?

When I said 'normal data image' I was talking about one with a proper file system that normal tools can parse. If you look in your log you'll see the image you're burning comes up as 'None'.

Normally the drive identifier shows 'ATA' or 'SCSI' on the end of it, yours shows 'ATAPI'. That's a driver thing.

Now how about the motherboard / controller questions I asked?

Its an ASUS P4PE, updated to the latest bios , the drive is on IDE 1 and the hdds on IDE 2, i know its backwards conventionally but never was a problem before, this system has stayed the same for 3+ yeras... the controller is coming up as Intel 82801DB Ultra ATA Controller.

Genious! It was the files, really odd how do a bunch of ISOs get corrupt on a HDD? I did have a brownout recently but one ISO that has been sitting on the drive for a while was recognized, yet the rest all added to the HDD recently do not get recognized. Going to look into why that would happen, I still get buffer probs and miscompares tho.. but discs work. Thanks a lot :pirate: arrr!

Are you sure your hdd isn't a bit dead - full stop?!

You're getting odd miscompares there so either your memory is dodgy or your hdd is.

Run memtest+ for a few passes to test your memory before then running chkdsk (checkdisk) on your hdd with a full surface scan.

Was the HDD, thanks for your help. It just started getting worse and worse, orphaned files, etc.
