Jesica Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Hey! I just downloaded ImgBurn today and set it up to burn an image from a file on my hard drive, but when I put the disc in to burn the image to, it said "Disc not empty" at the bottom and the following was written in the box on the right: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S 1.50 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-R Disc Information: Status: Incomplete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Free Sectors: 2,298,496 Free Space: 4,707,319,808 bytes Free Time: 510:48:46 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x Pre-recorded Information: Manufacturer ID: DAXON016S Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: 0@P-!-00 Book Type: DVD-R Part Version: 5 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 Trouble is, this was a brand new disc, factory sealed, so I don't know what the problem is. Any ideas??
LOCOENG Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Have you tried another disc from the same spindle? For what it's worth, Daxon isn't worth the money...Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden only. EDIT: You've actually got a double whammy there... MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S 1.50 (ATA) Not much of a drive either.

Any ideas?? IF it was a brand new disc and still shrink wrapped, your burner doesnt like them. Have you attempted to write to this disc already though Look at the bits in red above, the manufaturer ID is usually what shows when the disc is a poor quality one, or the drive just cant read it properly. try updating the firmware as this may overcome the problem , also try some Taiyo yuden or verbatim discs as well
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Which version of the program are you using? The drive shouldn't be reporting 'Incomplete' for the disc status but I'm pretty sure ImgBurn has certain checks in it if that's the case and other fields have certain values which basically mean the disc is blank.
Jesica Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Hi, thanks for all the advice. I've just bought Verbatim discs and tried it all again, but I got the same outcome. Here's the log: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S 1.50 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-R Disc Information: Status: Incomplete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Free Sectors: 2,298,496 Free Space: 4,707,319,808 bytes Free Time: 510:48:46 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x Pre-recorded Information: Manufacturer ID: MCC 02RG20 Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Book Type: DVD-R Part Version: 5 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 This disc was shrink-wrapped, too, so I don't know what's going on. I'm not all that computer savvy so I'm not really sure what you mean about updating the firmware...how do I go about that? The ImgBurn I have downloaded is ImgBurn v2.4.1.0.
lfcrule1972 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Have you started ImgBurn off on a burn with these discs ? Is there anything in the log window at the bottom of the main Imgburn GUI ?
Jesica Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 No, I can't start the burn off because it's reporting that the discs aren't empty, so it's not allowing me to start the burn.
