bsprowl Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I am trying to copy a DVD created by my daughter. I attempted to copy the disc to a temp folder using a name I chose but the result was a new file in the root directory of the selected hard disk using a name I didn't chose - Roxio27.iso. This occurred three times so I gave up and just accepted that result - but it seems like a bug to me. I then attempted to write a disc. I changed the mode to Write. The browser will not open the file created in the above step. I can see the file in Explorer but the program ignores it. I closed ImgBurn and restarted it, clicked on the write DVD button, selected the DVD, set the mode to write but the browser will not select a file. None of this was logged. This is the log file: I 10:06:38 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 10:06:38 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) I 10:06:38 Total Physical Memory: 982,320 KB - Available: 598,100 KB I 10:06:38 Initialising SPTI... I 10:06:38 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 10:06:38 Found 1 CD-RW and 1 DVD

bsprowl Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 (edited) Please follow this guide to burn the Roxio27.iso file that you made before That is exactly what I did. When I try to select a file (browse) nothing happens. I can not select any file. Bob Edited August 6, 2008 by bsprowl

bsprowl Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 you are in "write" mode and not "build" mode when you select the roxio27.iso arn't you Yes I selected write mode first. Bob
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 If you can't see the file in the browse window then you've probably got the file extension set to something ImgBurn doesn't support. Try changing the 'file types' dropdown box to show all files (*.*) If that doesn't work, drag and drop the iso file onto the 'Source' groupbox when you're in write mode.

Here's the step-by-step process I tried tonight which is similar to what I've been doing: 1. Opened Imgburn. 2. Clicked on the Write to Disk Icon. Waited for Imgburn to detect the blank disk and report on it in the box to the right. 3. Clicked on Mode in the Menu bar and then clicked on Write (which really just validated the mode as it was in Write already). 4. Clicked on the Browse Icon in the Source box. This opened the Open Pop-up Window. a. The File Type was: All Supported Files. Changed it to all Files(*.*). b. Clicked on Roxio27.iso in the drop down list. Clicked on it again in the Filename box so it was highlighted, then clicked on the Open Button. This closed the Open Pop-up Window. 5. The Source box still said "Please select a file...". 6. Clicked on the browser icon and again got the Open Pop-up Window. The file type had reverted to the apparently default value of all supported file types. Tried several other ways to select a file in the Open Pop-up Window with the same (null) results. I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 2 on a AMD Athlon 3700+ with 2 GB ram and 700+ disk and a Plextor PX-716A. I guess I need to find another program to copy a DVD. Stuff Happens, Bob
mmalves Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 What if you drag the Roxio27.iso file from My Computer/Windows Explorer to ImgBurn's window (while in Write mode)? ImgBurn uses standard Windows API to open files, so some other program you've installed is messing with this function. Even if you selected a wrong file ImgBurn would tell you it's not an image, or maybe it'd show the file was loaded to burn as an image, but you're not getting this far, which shows the parameter isn't being sent to ImgBurn.
