ShermDogg Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Hey, I purchased an external LG GSA-E60L duel layer burner last week to back-up some 360 games using ImgBurn. Using Memorex DVD+R DL discs I succesfully burned a number of games over the past week (using 2.4x burning speed and whatnot). Today, I've been having problems with burning, my computer freezes completely and when I reboot, I have to unplug and re-plug in my burner just to regain power and eject the disc. When i examine the disc the dye seems to be wavy and inconsistent with the other succesful burns (these discs are from the same spindle I've previously had success with). I'm wondering if this is a problem related to the discs, or the perhaps the drive itself, or mabye some else entirely? Thanks! Any input would be greatly appreciated!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Please follow the bold advice in the pink bit at the top of the forum.
ShermDogg Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 The game gets to 75-80% done, and then everything freezes, this is why I can't copy and paste the log.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Does it remain frozen if you turn the external drive off? Does it only happen when burning DL media? (the content isn't important)
lfcrule1972 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I think Memorex DVD+R DLs use Ritek dye (or did) and therefore results will never be as consistent as when using Verbatim DVD+R DLs...... Is ImgBurn still trying to write to the discs when you get the freeze ? Can you tell us what it says just before this happens in the log ?
ShermDogg Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 Hey guys, I switched media to Verbatim 2.4x DVD R+L DL, and things seemed to have worked out fine. I guess it's just more confirmation not to cheap out on the discs. Thanks for all the suggestions!
