There's firmware 1.02 available for your burner at http://au.lgservice.com/ (it's in Device Driver -> DVD-ROM(Writer) -> page 2). remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after the update has finished.

Personally speaking I would stay away from DVD-R DL's, the -R Dual Layer discs seem to be very problematic. All my dual layer burns are on Verbatim DVD+R DLs, the plus format is accepted by all my players in the house and has never given me any problems.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me.

I've upgraded the firmware.

But I still have problems...

Do you think my drive is defective?

As you can see...

Try with Verbatim DVD+R Dual Layer 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks and it should work :)

As lfcrule1972 said above, DVD-R DL media isn't as reliable as DVD+R DL media

Unless you have seen problems like this with the drive before I would bet that it's the DVD-R DL discs, I only have one burner that liked them enough to complete the burn and even then I wouldn't use them for anything as my DVD players won't play them.....
