A) IMGBurn misreads drive B) can't close disc

My CD/DVD drive is an NEC 6050A, but Imgburn consistently identifies it as a 6650A, which has different capabilities. I cannot convince the program it is anything else. Any ideas?

I am also unable to close a disc, and don't know why. I go to TOOLS>DRIVE>CLOSE>track, session or disc, and nothing happens.

You need to convince your drive, not the program.

The program gets the name by querying the drive.

ImgBurn automatically closes discs, it's not something you need to do.

If you have an open disc from another program, all you can do is issue all 3 of those commands. If they don't error out then the drive probably thinks it has dealt with them - again, this is a drive thing and ImgBurn has no say in the matter.

Where did you see that it should be 6050A? I've looked on Google and couldn't find a NEC 6050A burner.

(Even data discs? Then I wonder why there's a "close disc" option under tools.)

I ran the DVD Burn program, but when it got to the closing part, it said it couldn't close it, and that it may be because it's a slim line notebook drive. As I poked around for more info, I realized it was listing the drive incorrectly. I thought it might be part of the problem.

It's several years old. I got the number from my SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM INFORMATION lists. When I was trying to figure out the 'not closing' problem, I checked for updates, and did ieventually install one, somewhere in the middle of all this. I just checked the system info list, and now it is, in fact, listed as the new model. So that solves that part, but not the closing problem.
