Thingal Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) I'm having problems burning disc's since I got my new motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS5, I'm not sure what the problem is but the drive is acting really strange since I added it to the new board. For example: It takes much longer for the drive to read discs than usual and when I press eject it opens but then instantly closes itself. Here's the Imgburn report: ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Monday, 13 October 2008, 18:40:49 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 18:39:32 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 If the drivers report RAID and you say the bios is set to ATA then you can't have the drive on the right channel. Do you have a 2nd controller on that board? Maybe by jmicron / marvell etc? Your controllers will be in the scsi/raid branch rather than ide ata/atapi one. I assume you've loaded the latest intel inf chipset and matrix drivers?
Thingal Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 Thank You for the fast reply. For Gigabyte Bios -> Standard CMOS Features it States: IDE Channel 4 Master : LITE-ON DVD-RW I think that the 2nd controller is jmicron, I'm not sure how to check, there is a JMB36X IDE Setup running in System Configuration which is meant to be jmicron. Under Storage Controllers: ADEAQA4J IDE Controller <- I don't know what this is, States Device Type Standard Storage Controller Gigabyte Gbb36X controller <-States manufacture jmicron Intel® ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R/DO SATA RAID Controller Microsoft iSCSI Initiator I've installed the latest intel matrix storage controller drivers 8.xx
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Ports 5 and 6 on the intel chipset would be the most likely to work of any. I believe some boards let you have RAID for the first 4 and ATA for 5 and 6. The weird name controller is DAEMON Tools or Alcohol 120% etc. jmicron drivers can be found here ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2k_xp_Vista/
Thingal Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 Thanks For the Help, the jmicron drivers did the trick I'm able to burn and read discs much faster now.
