Jleagle Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 (edited) Hi, im using version 2.4.2.0 and ever since i have got a new computer i cant seem to get it to work. Half the time it hangs on "getting book type" as soon as i open the program and when that works, it hangs as soon as it starts the burn (see picture). The only way to get the program to respond again is to turn off my dvd writer on the main power switch. Then when i turn it back on again, ImgBurn cant find it. Any ideas? Thanks. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Load the program and before you insert any discs, press F8 to enable I/O debug mode. Now insert your disc and try to burn something. When it gets stuck the last entries in the log will be the command your machine has got stuck processing. You can copy + paste the text from the log window rather than getting screenshots. btw, is the firmware on your drive up-to-date?
Jleagle Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) I don't know if my firmware is up to date. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Repeat that few more times and see if you always end up with 'CDB Interpretation: Read Disc Structure - Physical Information' as the last line in the log. It's weird because it's already processed that command just fine earlier on. What machine did that drive come in? XY13 is the latest official liteon firmware so I don't know where your XP5V stands. Can you please post your filter driver list too - the option is in the Tools menu.
Jleagle Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) I bought the drive seperatly, its an external one, i believe its one of these: http://www.liteonit.eu/optical-storage-dvd-rw-external/ Here is my filter driver list ===============================================Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.2.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: redbook Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: PxHelp20 Lower Device Filter: [None Found] Filter Name: redbook File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\redbook.sys File Version: 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2108) File Description: Redbook Audio Filter Driver Product Name: Microsoft Edited October 20, 2008 by Jleagle
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 So it's actually a DX-20A3P? If so, try flashing with the XY13 firmware I mentioned earlier. http://www.liteonit.eu/optical-storage-dvd...p/download.html
Jleagle Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Well i installed that firmware, restarted my PC and tried again, the same problem happened, but then i turned the drive off and on and it worked, which is further than i got before. This is the log of the one that worked, it finished the burn and after that it tried to read the dvd and froze again. the dvd came out okay though. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Do you have access to any other PC's at all? I be interest to see if it's just your machine that's stopping it from working or the enclosure the drive is in. I have a 20A3P in my machine you see and I never have a problem with mine getting stuck like this.
Jleagle Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Well this problem has only started happening since i got a new computer, its a fairly old computer. This is the only PC i have access to unfortunately.
