mike6426 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) No matter what I do, I cannot change the book type of the DVD+RW I am burning into a DVD-ROM. I am using a NEC 3530A with Liggy's firmware. I have used almost every program possible to change the book type. I have burned the DVD (a Memorex) several times. No matter what I do, the book type is always DVD+RW. Also, the log says that it is burning in DVD-ROM, but when I check the DVD, it still shows up as DVD+RW. Edited October 19, 2008 by mike6426
mmalves Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 After setting the booktype to DVD-ROM, do a Full Erase on that disc and it should work
mike6426 Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) Nope, it still doesn't work. A log of erasing: I 17:29:09 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Which booktype commands does the drive actually respond to? When you look at the NEC tab in the booktype options, does it actually say 'Current Setting: DVD-ROM' when you're on the 'Drive (For DVD+RW Media)' or 'Drive (For DVD+RW Media - Temporary)' options?
mike6426 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 it responds to all commands in the NEC tab pulldown, changing to DVD-ROM when changed.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Really? I 18:27:07 Book Type Setting: N/A That log entry suggests to me that something isn't right. I guess I'll have to dig out an old NEC drive and see exactly what's what.
mike6426 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Yes, even the NEC gui for binflash shows that the booktype for all of the DVD+R(W and DL too) are set as DVD-ROM
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 You should probably give up then. If a full erase and a normal write operation don't make it change, nothing will. It might work with brand spanking new 'unformatted' DVD+RW though.
mike6426 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Ya, an unformatted DVD+RW works, thanks for your help.
