FlimsyFeet Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 (edited) Changed to UDF file system because one file is too large for JOILET, but I've burned UDF discs before with no problem. Going to try the obvious - update ImgBurn, check for firmware updates, but is there anything else I should be considering? mmalves Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I 19:01:12 Destination Media Type: DVD-R DL (Disc ID: MKM 01RD30) (Speeds: 2x, 4x) You'll have better results using Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks, as these are better supported by most burners.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Looks like your drive just decided to reset itself midway... that's never a good thing! Update ImgBurn when you get a minute.
FlimsyFeet Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Thanks. I've now updated ImgBurn. Drive firmware was already the most current version available. I've burned dozens of DVD+R DL discs in the past with no problems - so it would seem this drive just doesn't like -R DL, threw a strop and reset itself. I still have one Verbatim -R DL left, probably best to try it with a different drive.
lfcrule1972 Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I just wouldn't bother mate - the DVD-R DL's seem worse than useless to me - I still have 2 or 3 from some disc tests I did a couple of years ago, I have never found a use for them.
FlimsyFeet Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 OK I tried the other DVD-R DL on another computer (also has a Lite-On drive, but a different - older - model). This time, the actual burn seemed to go OK, but ImgBurn froze at the Synchronising Cache stage and would not cancel (until I physically ejected the disc). Even though ImgBurn didn't close the track and finalise the disc, I can see the files on there, but haven't yet verified if they are completely intact. DVD-R DL's seem worse than useless Looks like you were right!
