rijnton Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Because I would like to play Blu-Ray's from my hdd with PowerDVD 8 (not supporting that anymore as in 7.3), I tried to build an iso with your great software, to mount that in Alcohol 120%. With one movie that worked, but with 2 other ones PowerDVD told me that there was no disc in the virtual drive. I followed the instructions in this thread: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=7739 and I assume that I did it correctly because one movie plays fine. I have to add that the folder of the movie that worked, contains a lot of subfolders amongst which a BDMV, whereas the other 2 have ONLY a BDMV subfolder. Could this be the "culprit" ? Btw, the "only" BDMV ones d
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 PowerDVD won't play home-made BD images if Alcohol is emulating a BD-ROM (any image > 8.5GB in size). BDMV is probably the only folder you need in the root of the disc, all the files/folders are in that one. Try mounting the image in Virtual CloneDrive instead.
rijnton Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 Thanks for your quick reply. Being a noob, I don't understand exactly what you mean with "Alcohol emulating a BD-ROM (>8,5GB)". Anyway, the iso of the movie that plays, is 39,4GB, thus over 8,5GB. I tried Virtual Clone Disc meanwhile and funny thing is that: 1) one of the (in Alcohol) not-working iso's plays fine in PowerDVD 7.3 but NOT in PowerDVD 8 2) the other (in Alcohol) not-working iso still doesn't play in both 7.3 and 8. 3) the, in Alcohol, working iso still plays fine in both 7.3 and 8 Do you have any idea what still goes wrong ? Thanks in advance. Ton
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Post the complete log of you building an image from the set of files that then wont play. Then open the ISO up with IsoBuster. Right click the file system in the left section (the branch under 'track') and click the folder/file info -> list in edit window -> lba full path option. Copy + paste all that info into the post too please.
rijnton Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 (edited) O.K. Here it comes. I did it with both iso's, mentioned under 1 and 2 in my above post. Update: I should mention that PowerDVD says that there is a disc with unsupported format in the (virtual) drive. Iso 1 (working in 7.3): Imgburn log I 20:03:12 Operation Started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Pointing out the obvious, one has PLAYLIST and CLIPINF (duplicated to) inside the BACKUP folder and the other doesn't. One has AACS-- and CERTIFICATE folders and the other one doesn't. I assume PowerDVD itself has all the latest update patches installed?

I assume PowerDVD itself has all the latest update patches installed? Sorry but as I wrote above I am a newbie and I don't understand what that means practically. Does it mean that the problem lies in the original files and that nothing can be done to solve it ? Or is there still a workaround ? I have indeed the latest updates installed. Btw, I appreciate the great support here very much.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 The BACKUP folder on one disc only has 2 files in it. On the other one it also has copies of the PLAYLIST and CLIPINF folders that you can also see within the BDMV folder. So basically, just copy those two folders from the BDMV folder into the BACKUP (so the data is duplicated) - that's the whole idea of the BACKUP folder Likewise, remove the 2 folders from the non-working image that aren't present in the working one. Note that when I say 'remove' I mean put them somewhere safe out of the way - but where you can still get at them!

I have the complete files of the iso that doesn't play at all and I can play them from my hdd with PDVD7.3. It seems that some files and/or iso's play fine with 7.3 and others with 8, although I don't understand why. Ton
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 It really just comes down to bugs in powerdvd or issues with the source files - neither of which ImgBurn can help with.
