cantgetcdrwtoburn Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) Image burn will not burn CD-RWs for me. On some CD-RW disks it can only erase them and some, it can't even erase them and just mysteriously stops erasing them. I have tried on CD-RW disks both used and ones that have never been written to before. They're about 6-7 years old so I don't know if that's why or not or if it's a hardware issue or something else. I am attaching a screenshot with the cryptic error message it always gives. What I try to burn works on test mode, but not when it really tries to work and it is about 150 megabytes and the ISO itself is freeware, open source so it's not some copyright issue. Cynthia Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum, cantgetcdrwtoburn! Can you post the full log of that failed burn? You'll find it here Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs
cantgetcdrwtoburn Posted November 11, 2008 Author Posted November 11, 2008 Okay first log is on a never before used CD-RW, it fails to burn. In the below, it failed once with a cryptic error message like screenshot above and then in the example below I hit retry once and it came back again with the same error. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Tuesday, 11 November 2008, 01:05:16 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 01:02:42 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I made my original post early in the day where it was noisy in my apartment due to the road nearby and I had earplugs in + acoustic earmuffs. I have them out now and when I tried to erase the disks it could not erase, my drive made a faint rumbling sound sometimes with the disks in, but did not make the sound for the disks that could be erased or any other CDs. So I'm just updating that since I did not know of it when I made my first post
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 You're getting a lot of unknown error codes there... in fact, they're all unknown! What controller is the drive connected to? The drive must be about 8 years old now.... rather than wasting time with it, you could pickup a new burner that might actually work properly with your media?
cantgetcdrwtoburn Posted November 11, 2008 Author Posted November 11, 2008 Controller? It is an IDE drive. I don't know if you want some other kinds of details.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Do you know anything about the PC it's in? Is the PC 8 years old too? If not and it's just the drive, I need to know which chipset the motherboard uses - i.e. Intel, Via, SIS, NVIDIA etc. If you know the make and model of the motherboard I can probably work the rest out for myself.
Cynthia Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 You can use Nero InfoTool to find out the info about your computer. http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero8-tools-utilities.html
