diesel1982 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I have been using imgBurn for quite some time with no problems and using the same media. I have not changed any settings and only today has it been giving me the same error over 8 or 9 burns. I have tried burning using two different burners and tried discs out of three different packs to rule out a bad batch with same results. I know i could always buy verbatim but these discs have been working great for over a year now and i would like to continue using them if possible. Thank you in advance for any advice. LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 The layer break error is probably because you're reusing a disc that's already failed to burn for one reason or another. You should not get that specific error on a new disc. You already know the score with Verbatim DL so I won't mention it again.

I have been through over 10 plus discs now, i must have put the same disc in twice by mistake on previous log sorry. I am now getting a different reason for failure if you could possibly shed some light on what's going on. Thank's I 21:47:43 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 There isn't really much I can say! The drive is failing to burn to the discs you're using so the obvious thing is to stop using them and try something different. If the others (which should be Verbatim ones) don't work either then you'll know it's a problem with the drive... try running a cleaning disc on it a couple of time. If that doesn't work, buy yourself a new burner.
diesel1982 Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 Thank's for your help, i can successfully burn using another brand of discs (2 out of 3 worked) but as you say i think the burner is failing. Im going to go out and buy a new burner tomorrow as ive never had a problem with imgburn in the past and always found it to be the most reliable to use. I will grab some verbatims while im out as well. Cheer's, Paul.
diesel1982 Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) Hello again, i have just been out and purchased another burner and have now ran into more problems..... LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I think that's just because it's a little slow at actually setting the LB. If you check the disc info after the burn I'm sure the layer break will be in the correct place. You shouldn't have aborted the burn though. The bit in bold (Disc Control Blocks) is info about the drive that burnt the disc - or in this case (because it's empty), what will be written to the disc when this drive burns it. No need to provide debug info unless I ask for it.
diesel1982 Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) Sorry for being a pain, i was looking for a firmware update for this drive but cannot find one. I will let it burn fully and check disc info after. Thank's for all your help. Really appreciate the time you take to help people out. UPDATE: Left it to run and think i have got a successfull burn now. I 14:32:58 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!
