helloworld1712 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I have bought a HP Dv5-1045tx laptop 2 weeks ago. The HD is making a clocking sound. Because of the research i have done over internet, it looks like its head park noise and lots of brands are having this problem. Now there is firmware update available on WD website which has to be run in DOS mode. The link for that post and steps are : http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/ph...amp;p_topview=1 I have the dos boot CD with the utility on it. If I run this utility in my desktop which has WIN XP , it works fine and asks for the installation of the utilty. But on my laptop it doesnt detect my hard drive and says : 'Controller not supported' Can you guys help as i have been trying to sort this problem out for the past three days?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 As I said before, talk to WD. Their flasher has to support your system and obviously it doesn't.
