Dannyj Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I've always burned my DVD's with success using an ASUS DRW-1604P. Suddenly I'm getting two errors "optimum power calibration failed" and "failed to reserve track" I'm using high quality Philips DVD-RW 1-2X But since I've got these errors with the philips DVDs, not even the DVDs I have always used with success are working anymore. I tried to manually perform the "power calibration" but it always failed. I'm still burning CD's and reading DVDs with success. There's no newer firmware for my drive. Maybe it's a speed problem? By the way, why newer DVD's are lower speed than my old 16x DVD's? Don't DVDs and burners progress by allowing higher and higher speeds?
