Doesn't detect dvd burner initially, will manually, using DVD Flick

DVD Flick creates files fine, Imgburn doesn't detect burner and halts. As soon as I manually go to tools-detect devices, it finds it and burns fine. It did this before DVD43, I do have Alcohol 120%, 1Click Pro, ULead Movie Factory 6 and Active@ISO Burner installed.

Often, once I manually detect the device, subsequent burns in the same session will work fine. Also, Imgburn seems to detect the drive just fine on its own - tried rebooting, etc., still finds it.

Log file when it doesn't detect:

So some other program has the drive open and isn't sharing them so other apps can use them - hence the 'Access is denied' message.

Maybe it's in part of DVD Flick's code where it detects the drives available and passes your selection to ImgBurn.

Any ideas of the culprit?

I've removed Alcohol, Ulead, 1Click, DVD43 and Active@ISO (and re-booted of course :) ).

Once I go to "Tools-Search for..." it fires and goes, sometimes working for multiple conversions.

Looks as DVDFlick is not releasing the drive. You should be able to unlock it without restarting the computer by

Tools -> Device -> UnLock Tray

In DVD Flick or ImgBurn?

I like the proggie (DVD Flick) to this point, but don't like having to manually find the burner each time.

For what I'm doing, Vista's "Windows DVD Maker" works, even inserts chapters, but uses all of my resources and seems to take substantially longer.

Thanks!

Did a test with DVD Flick and I have no problems to run DVD Flick and then let it automatic burn with ImgBurn. No locking issue.

I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1.

Tested with DVD Flick ver 1.3.0.4 and ImgBurn ver 2.4.2.0.

Are you running your computer as admin?

E 23:11:44 You need Administrative privileges to use SPTI.

User account control, which I hate, is enabled as my wife has her own profile.

If you open ImgBurn manually when DVD Flick is open, does it work?

I'm just wondering when exactly the drives are being opened - either incorrectly or for exclusive usage. Of course neither of those are wanted / required.

ImgBurn opened and burned an ISO while DVD Flick is open.
