cmd2000 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I am trying to read a badly scratched audio cd at 1x speed. Whatever I select however, it seems to just go to the maximum speed. I 23:09:55 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 23:09:55 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 23:09:55 Total Physical Memory: 523,760 KB - Available: 127,708 KB I 23:09:55 Initialising SPTI... I 23:09:55 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 23:09:55 Found 1 CD-RW, 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD
mmalves Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 The command to set the read speed is sent, but it's up to the burner to obey it or not, and unfortunately most burners simply ignore it
cmd2000 Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Aw bummer. I tried it on an older liteon cd-rw and it went down to 4x but still couldn't read the cd. Thanks.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 It's a CD Extra disc yeah? Do you really need the data bit? That's the bit with the errors. If not, just extract the audio tracks in EAC or something and forget about the data session.
cmd2000 Posted December 26, 2008 Author Posted December 26, 2008 That's good advice. The disc would always error out on the last 99 or 100%. I wasn't sure if it was copy protection or just the scratches. The cd is quite old - it asks to install quicktime 2 on the extra part! I will try EAC and ditch the data part. Thanks!
