Your old burner doesn't support the blanks you're using. Try aplying the firmware update available here. Remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after it has finished. If that still doesn't work then you'll need to buy a new burner.

Alright, just to be sure, when following that link it's the first download on the page that is right for mine correct? Version 1.A3 Just want to make sure so I don't flash my drive with the wrong firmware. Also, in the readme it states:

"

-This update dont increase speed 8x for DvD+R.

-This update dont create a DvD+R9 writing function.

-This update dont create writability of DVD-R/ -RW media`s.

"

With the emphasis on the third bullet. As I'm attempting to burn to a DVD. But my dad has burned DVD movies before with this.

Quick help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Edit: Also, sorry don't mean to be rude at all. My dad just told me he's used these CD's for ages burning his movies.

Hate to double post, so I should go along with the firmware update as it should fix the issue?

Edit: Exited out of everything, took out the disk that was in the drive and ran the flash utility. It asked me to select a drive and there were none to choose from?
