jthomas5150 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) Hi, I used another program to burn a compliant Video DVD. That program did not change the booktype to DVD-ROM. It stayed as DVD+RW. Can I change the booktype with ImgBurn to DVD-ROM even though the disc has already been written? I am taking the disc to my friends house, and want it to be as compliant as possible (without wasting a +R). I have a Samsung drive. Thanks in advance! Edited January 12, 2009 by jthomas5150
rasheed Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I guess you can't -- you'll need to rewrite that disc. Also, that "another program" did not format that +RW disc properly. IMHO, the best thing you can do is to format and then write that disc again, this time with ImgBurn.
jthomas5150 Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 I thought I had read that you can change the booktype on a DVD+RW without rewriting the data on it. Am I mistaken?
rasheed Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I am not sure, but I think that is drive specific.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 It is indeed drive specific. LiteOn drives can change it whenever you want, others will only do it when they perform a full format on the media. You don't even know if your mates player will have an issue with it being a DVD+RW yet so why not worry about it when you actually know for sure? (unless your mate lives hundreds of miles away of course?!)
