I am trying to burn an ISO image of an OS (Windows 7) onto a DVD and make it bootable DVD. However, I am a little confused with the options. Here is what I am doing: 1. Go into build mode 2. choose my iso file for the source 3. choose my DVD drive for the destination 4. tick the box to make the dvd bootable This is where my confusion starts. - when to use what emulation type? - What is "boot image" field in the "Advanced->Bootable Disc" and how is it different from the image ISO I chose as source? - What is "extract boot image" for? If it's the .iso file you downloaded from Microsoft, just burn it as a regular .iso file, by using the Write Mode of ImgBurn. That .iso file already contains the stuff that makes it bootable. Those options are only if you are going to create a bootable disc from raw files (native files). If that is the case - you can read about how to create such an .iso in the 'ImgBurn Functions Guide' that you'll find in the Guides sub forum. When you start ImgBurn the top left huge button says 'Write image file to disc'... surely that's the most logical route to take when you already know you have an image and you want to burn it to disc? Please, I'm not trying to be funny here, I just want to understand how people's minds work so I can try and make things more obvious and add extra prompts when I detect them making common mistakes. westconn1 Posted February 1, 2009 Share Posted February 1, 2009 well i am searching here as i want to add boot capability to existing image (or created image), and wanting to find if image burn supported that feature, looks like it does also the question of the settings for boot images, as using nero i have made a lot of non-bootable boot cds, though i have found clear instructions for creating bootable slipstreamed xp disks, which always seem to work my version of nero does not support dvds, so looking to upgrade Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
