I have been using ImgBurn for quite awhile now, and I have to say I love it! It and DVDFlick have allowed me to get rid of Nero on both my computer, and anyone's computer I am fixing (friends and family). :whistling:

Today I ran into a problem: trying to burn the cd from the cue file I created from mp3's, I got the "failed to read from file: xxx.mp3 Reason: Reached EOF!" error. I have searched all evening, but can't find anything that addresses my problem. I went ahead and burned it with WMP, and went on to my next project. When I tried to build this next cue, I got the "ConnectFilters(Source, Sample Grabber) Failed!" error. I updated my ogg codecs and made sure I was good in the ffdshow area, and tried again, with the same error. I went ahead and used WMP to burn this cd, too, which at least proved the files aren't corrupt.

So, what is going on? Using WMP makes me sad.

Here is my log file (actually, I deleted the old and ran them again so the log file would be a little shorter than the eleventy billion retries I did earlier!) :

It must be a slightly odd mp3 file.

Can you please upload it somewhere or email it to support (check the program's 'About' box) so I can look at it?

I'll delete it again when I'm done looking into the issue.

I am sending those e-mails right now. Don't worry about deleting them, they're just a couple of songs (and I'm sure you love Cyndi Lauper)! :teehee:

What I don't understand is how I can be having filter problems if I have all the filters, and how the songs can play and burn in WMP. Would I be able to do that without the correct filters and codecs?

Okay, will do!

ETA: I tried both mp3's in graphedit, and both threw an error. At first, I suspected I was doing it wrong, but my other files seem fine. Just the ones I sent you are effed up!

Ok so you already know that DirectShow won't deal with these files but that's where ImgBurn's fallback to 'ACM' decoding should kick in.

The beta I'm currently working with is ok on the 'girls just wanna have fun' one (i.e. no 'Reached EOF' error in ACM fallback mode), the other one doesn't work in ACM mode because the 'channel mode' flag (stereo, joint stereo, mono etc) changes between frame header 1 and header 2 and ImgBurn rejects it.

It would appear the test where Imgburn compares the 2 headers was a little bit too good and in actual fact it's ok for the 'channel mode' to change just so long as it doesn't go to/from mono.

i.e. Stereo -> Joint Stereo is ok, Stereo -> Mono or Joint Stereo -> Mono or Mono -> Stereo is NOT ok.

I've updated my compare routine based on this new found knowledge and the file is no longer rejected.

ACM decoding then works just fine and I can happily burn both songs :)

That is good news! I am glad that my skills at finding strange mp3's has been useful.

I solved the immediate problem by using WMP and downloading a new version of the second song, which was pretty quick and easy.

I will be sure to download the next version of ImgBurn as soon as it is out. Do you release the beta for public consumption? Thanks for your help!
