paddy69 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Hi! HELP! I have just started trying to burn DL DVD's in my Optiarc AD-5170A drive. I bought Verbatim + DL discs (8X), have managed to burn 1 disc by using Imgburn to make an image and then using Imgburn to burn to disc. I have upgraded the firmware after making some coasters but it is still not working. Here are some logs! Any help would be VERY appreciated! Thanks! //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Saturday, 24 January 2009, 13:51:27 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 13:15:24 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! Cynthia Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, paddy69! I 12:17:37 Source Device: [1:1:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-5170A 1.12 (F:) (ATA) Latest firmware version is 1.14. http://www.sony-optiarc.eu/en/support-serv...-ad-series.html Other than that, try to slow down the burning speed. 2.4x is the slowest. Right now you are burning at max (8x). The Verbatims that generally works best with older writers are the one labeled 2.4x made in Singapore.
paddy69 Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Hi! Cynthia! Thanks! The last burn I tried was with the updated firmware, at 2.4x speed, and I don't have a log because after "leaving it to it" and going to have a bath, I came back to an error screen and a frozen computer! I am finding this rather frustrating! As I said, I did burn one DVD OK! The others have either appered to burn OK! then failed on verify, or had problems with finalising. paddy69 Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 OK! I have tried again with the older version of Imgburn This is the log! I 21:32:40 DVD Decrypter Version 3.5.4.0 started! I 21:32:40 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 21:32:40 Initialising SPTI... I 21:32:40 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 21:32:41 Found 1 CD-RW and 1 DVD
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 That 'older version' didn't look for errors during the finalisation stage. In any case, the disc still isn't readable. Yes you should give the MKM-001-00 discs a try if you can source them from somewhere. Just make sure they're the ones made in Singapore.
