Supported Burning Speeds

Hi,

Does the following log says that my media has supported writing speed of: 4x,8x,12x,16x ?

and that I burned it at a speed of 2x?

So I'm guessing where it says

Write Speed: (This would be the speed that I asked them to burn it at?)

And since I think I burned it at 2x and not the supported writing speed

Would this to why this operation was unsuccessful ? im kinda new to this.. so I'm trying to learn..thanks guys

I 09:19:35 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!

No, picking a speed that doesn't exist will not cause any problem.

The drive will see your request to burn at 2x and then go with the nearest speed it DOES support.

Your error was this:

E 09:23:20 Failed to lock volume for exclusive access.

E 09:23:20 Reason: Access is denied.

Read the FAQ.

Thanks for the notice,

and after reading the FAQ,

I'm a little confused

Well I know that this is my error:

E 09:23:20 Failed to lock volume for exclusive access.

E 09:23:20 Reason: Access is denied.

which you said that another program is using the drive (which I get it)

and after using ProcessExplorer and did the search as you said..

This was the part I was confused...

I didnt just find 1 thing... I found 34 things running...

so the question is should I close all of it? (or would that disrupt my computer system) as in would it harm it in anyway? - just curious

thanks...

Something must be using it somewhere, try searching again.

Do you really get no results when searching for 'cdrom' or 'E:' (only search for 'E:' when cdrom doesn't find anything)?

Obviously you can only search when ImgBurn has actually said it can't lock the volume, if you leave the pc or reboot it etc then there's no point in searching.

Yes, I really get no results when searching for 'cdrom'

which was why I searched for 'E' and gave me the results...

It's been a while since I burned DVDs now... as I am waiting for Verbatim coming in

so hopefully the next time I burned it would be 100% successful..

And when the error "Failed to lock volume for exclusive access" pops up

Am I suppose to do the search for 'cdrom' or Am i suppose to do that even before I start burning?

and I noticed everytime I get the error " Failed to lock volume for exclusive access"

it would be at like 40% .... sometimes 80% (which sucks) and after getting that error...

I end up losing that 1 more extra disc as I do not use a rewritable one..

Is there any way to avoid wasting an extra disc ... (eventho I highly doubt)

It will work best if you do it as/when the 'unable to lock volume' error box is on the screen.

You could also try using a program called 'Unlocker' - http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

Once installed you should be able to right click the drive within My Computer / Explorer and select the unlocker option.

Hopefully it will then present you with a list of programs that are using the drive.
