Cynthia Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, x-ecutioner! You selected max speed (16x) and the writer only performs the write at around 8x. Sounds as your writer doesn't really like that brand. Have you been able to burn other brands with that writer? There is also a later firmware version to install - ver 1.01. You'll find it here under 'Device Driver'. http://se.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp
x-ecutioner Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 well heres the thing this is my first time burning onto my drive ive never really burnt anything with it before in addition, i had the speed set at 16 because 8 and and 10 did not work all three speeds have led to errors and i dont wanna try out the cds and put em into my laptop unless im sure they are fully functional, im not looking for more trouble is there any other advice anyone can offer me? im downloading the driver upgrade as we speak, ill tell you how it works out but i dont think itll make a difference. But then again idonno that much about burning stuff. thanks ps: what do you mean by it suonds like the writer does not like the brand? is that referring to the brand of dvd r's i bought?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Does your motherboard have an NVIDIA chipset by any chance?
x-ecutioner Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 okay well i updated the driver but its still giving me the exact same errors any ideas? thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Revert to older ones or select a different I/O interface in the settings. The current nvidia drivers mess up if you ask for anything over 18 bytes of 'sense area' data (which ImgBurn does). Most 3rd party I/O interfaces appear to limit whatever you ask for to 18 so that gets around the issue.
x-ecutioner Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 okay well updating to drivers does not seem as reliable and seems rather lengthy assuming i was to change the I/O interface, which one do you suggest i change it too? (right now its interface is STPI- microsoft) i understand that but you're last two points i cant really understand sorry about that should i try to use Nero instead? is it more of a software or hardware issue? thanks
x-ecutioner Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 shoot my previous version of nero is not supported by my 64 bit system =_= so i cant burn that damn image file onto there either!
mmalves Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 It's the Nvidia drivers that are buggy: ImgBurn works fine for everyone else using Intel/VIA/SiS/etc chipsets. Try ASPI and it should work
Cynthia Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Try ASPI and it should work Guess he/she needs to install ASPI drivers first? Might be easier to select 'ASPI - WNASPI32.DLL" as he/she seems to have Nero installed already.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Yeah just 'borrow' the nero wnaspi32.dll and stick it in ImgBurn's program folder until I release a new version of ImgBurn that has a workaround for NVIDIA's buggy drivers and will make SPTI work again.
