1 hour 10 mins to get to that point!

Cynthia is right, you have DMA issues!

Because of this, the drive will be running with the 'burnproof' feature working MEGA overtime.

Sort your machine out and hopefully they'll work ok then.

Ok, so here's the deal...

Under Device Manager...

I have : 2 Primary IDE Channel

2 Secondary IDE Channel

2 Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

Before, I checked that one of my Secondary IDE Channel Current Transfer Mode was on "PIO Mode"

and after removing it and rebooting my computer... I finally got it to "Ultra DMA Mode 2"

So Now in ONE my Primary IDE Channel this is what I have:

Device 0

Device Type: Auto Detection (Cannot change)

Transfer Mode: DMA if availabe

Current Transfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 5

Device 1

Device Type: Auto Detection(Can change)

Transfer Mode: DMA if available

Current Transfer Mode: Not applicable

and in my OTHER (One) of my Secondary IDE Channel this is what I have:

Device 0

Device Type: Auto Detection (Cannot change)

Transfer Mode: DMA if availabe

Current Transfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 2

Device 1

Device Type: Auto Detection (Cannot change)

Transfer Mode: DMA if availabe

Current Transfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 2

So I was wondering if I still have any problems with enabling DMA before I start burning again..

I really dont wanna waste my discs with like trial and error...

That looks better :)

You're using DVD-R, just enable 'Test Mode' and try one - it won't actually write to it.

If the speed is ok (i.e it take 5 - 15 mins, not 1.5 hours!), turn 'Test Mode' back off again and burn.

So everything's much better now

and I started burning on Test Mode..

It was fine..

and then for the 'real' burning

I havta say that the speed is much faster.. was at most 30 mins...

much faster than usual..compared to like almost 2 hrs..

I'm pretty happy about it...

so heres my log:

I 19:17:26 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!

I 19:17:26 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)

And one quick question

when I burn...

what is the tab verify do?

should i always check it before I burn?

like im not exactly sure what does it verify?

thanks..

Verify will allow you to know that what was burned also was burned without any errors. More or less - it will re read your burned disc and compare it with the original source. So it's a good idea to have it enabled.

I notice that when I enable it...

right after the disc is ejected itself...it pops back in again..

and it seems like everything starts over again...like the burning process..

but that was when my DMA wasnt enabled I believe..

I'll try again and give it a try..thanks

and btw verify wouldnt take that long would it?

approximately how long would you think?

I 19:17:45 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: MCC 03RG20) (Speeds: 2x)

That still doesn't look right but you have your drive and its firmware to blame for that.

Your initial log was ok in that it correctly reported 16x as a supported write speed.

Ok, I updated it

and now its faster as you can see below...

heres the log..if theres a problem:

I also verified it too..

I'm hoping this outcome is more reasonable..
