Buffer dropping every 500MB~

Everytime I write an IMG my device buffer drops every 500MB, very strange. DMA is enabled and working. The top "buffer" indicator never drops under 100%

That's normal and most likely due to active OPC.

 

By the way, there's firmware 1.07 available for your NEC burner

That one wouldn't have any effect on the burn graph as it's just one command issued before the burn starts.

 

The Walking/Active/Online one is what causes the regular dips in the buffer/write speed graph.

but would those regular dips cause disc errors on playback? or are they normal?

They're perfectly normal.

 

The drive just takes a second to recalibrate the laser power in an attempt to give you the best burn possible.
