Rogierbos Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi, I am trying to burn a DVD with image files for a client (I am a photographer). I have used Imgburn a couple of times successfully (though I really don't understand most of it); but a number of times the process has also not ended well. Like right now. Here is an error I have happen a number of times: the burn-process just hangs somewhere in the process (at 89% in this case). Questions - what causes this? - Is my burner or the disc to blame, or am I getting my settings wrong? - Could it depend on there being something wrong with the image files (jpg's)? I am using: - Lite-on DVDRW LH-20A1P - Philips DVD+R (4,7 Gb, 1-16xspeed The log says: I 11:01:03 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! Shamus_McFartfinger Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I 11:07:35 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: MBIPG101-R05-01) (Speeds: 2,4x; 4x; 6x; 8x; 12x; 16x) Hmm... the disks you are using were made in India. A quick look around the net reports the quality to be hit and miss. Before getting into the nitty gritty of what the problem might be, grab some good media like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and have another go. What I can tell you is that the problem isn't ImgBurn. Your drive appears to have failed. Any problem that Imgburn displays in its log will be the drive reporting an error and the software displaying that error.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 You can get an updated firmware for your drive from here - http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/LH-20A1P/files.html
Rogierbos Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 It's hanging again... This time at 72% I have updated the firmware and bpught Verbatim disks (made in Taiwan): DVD+R, 16speed. The first DVD went fine. This is the second. Seems very hit-and-miss to me... The log: I 20:06:02 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 USB isn't 100% reliable. If you can put the drive inside your pc properly, you should do. Try slowing the burn speed down to 8x. You might have a filter driver installed that's not playing nicely and the commands ImgBurn is sending are just getting stuck / lost somewhere. Click the 'Tools' menu in ImgBurn and you should find the filter driver load order feature. Copy the info to the clipboard and paste it in a reply. Also, if it gets stuck, you should at least be able to recover the PC by turning the usb drive off (or unplugging it). SP3 for XP has been out for a while, that's something else for you to update.
