scotty_buttons
Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. I'm having a problem changing the booktype of my burner for a DVD +R DL disc. it's an LG GSA T50F..I keep getting an error when i try to change it to DVD ROM. Nevertheless I tried burning with the 'automatic option' enabled for samsung and LG burners and still, the resultant burned DL DVD wasnt burnt as DVD ROM. I've searched evrywhere for firmware that would enable me to change it but cant find any..can anyone help me plzzz? ASAP? THanks
Cynthia
Hi and welcome to the forum, scotty_buttons! If you have the option 'Auto Change Book Type' enabled (default setting) in the write tab in the Settings, ImgBurn will book type +R DL media automatic for you. Did you burn one of those discs and ended up with it not being book typed to DVD-ROM?
LIGHTNING UK!
What message do you get when you try to change it manually via the LG 'change book type' tab?
scotty_buttons
Cynthia, I did try burning with the automatic settings and it turned out to be a DVD+R DL burn..not DVD-ROM LIGHTNING UK, While trying to change it manually, i select DVD+R DL Media and I get the error Current Setting : Unknown (FAILED!) Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code I know it cannot be the media cuz I've burnt it as DVD ROM with my Samsung and Pioneer burners before. UNfortunately, those two are indefinitely down. LIGHTNING UK!
So you have the same issue as the other guy in this forum - 'Invalid Command Operation Code'... meaning either your drive doesn't support the book type commands or the drivers are blocking it. Find out which controller the drive is attached to and then get the latest driver from the manufacturers website.
scotty_buttons
Yea! I am! How do I find out which controller it's attached to? is it somewhere in the control panel? :S Not quite sure what you're asking and I havent found anything that resembles drivers for any device on the LG site..can you plz help? My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit thanks
LIGHTNING UK!
Open device manager and see what you have listed in the ide ata/atapi branch and also the scsi / raid one. List all that info here or post a screenshot.

LIGHTNING UK!
yup If you don't get that same 'invalid command op code' error, the automatic thing will work just fine.

scotty_buttons
sorry for the late reply. yea. the matrix went on without any problems. here's the filter driver list: =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.2.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: [None Found] Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: [None Found] Lower Device Filter: [None Found]

scotty_buttons
sorry. i posted the wrong list..(from the wrong comptuer) this is the CORRECT LIST and yes i have administrator privileges.. =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.2.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: [None Found] Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: [None Found] Lower Device Filter: tdcmdpst Filter Name: tdcmdpst File Name: File Version: File Description: Product Name: Product Version: Company Name: Copyright:
Cynthia
The tcdcmdpst looks odd, it should look something like this. Filter Name: tdcmdpstFile Name: C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\tdcmdpst.sys File Version: 2, 0, 0, 1 [2.0.0.1] File Description: TOSHIBA ODD Writing Driver for x86. Product Name: Product Version: 2, 0, 0, 1 [2.0.0.1] Company Name: TOSHIBA Corporation. Copyright: Copyright © 2007 TOSHIBA Corporation. All rights reserved. TOSHIBA Writing Engine Filter Driver It seems it is from TOSHIBA Backup Utility and it might have been uninstalled before and the driver is not fully removed. scotty_buttons
that's really odd. cuz the laptop is less than 2 months old and i haven't interfered with anything on it. would reinstalling the driver work? problem is i cant source it :S
Cynthia
If it was me I would delete it. I guess you could wait for a second opinion when LUK is awake tomorrow.
scotty_buttons
you mean delete it and let windows reinstall the driver? guess it's worth a shot. what's the worst that can happen? a non-functioning burner? lol guess I'll wait to see what he says too..
Cynthia
Delete the filter by using the Delete button in the Filter Driver Load Order function in ImgBurn and then restart the computer. The worst thing that can happen is that that other program (TOSHIBA Backup Utility) will probably stop working, but it should be possible to reinstall it again if you need it. The burner will not crash (be destroyed) as it's only a software driver.
scotty_buttons
alright will do and let u know the outcome tonight.
scotty_buttons
the option to remove the filter is un-selectable. i cant remove it.
Cynthia
Even if you first mark the row with the tdcmdpst? There is always the way through the Windows Registry to remove it. http://barugon.wordpress.com/2008/08/01/wi...issing-code-39/
