Multi-byte char filenames get screwed up when VIDEO_TS folder is present

I'm using Imgburn on Japanese windows XP SP3. When I burn a DVD or write an ISO image using the "Build" mode, all the multi-byte char file names and folder names gets screwed up when there is "VIDEO_TS" present in the root directory. The file names and folder names are perfectly fine when "VIDEO_TS" folder is NOT present... All multi-byte char named objects were placed in folders more than 1 level deeper from the root, so there are no multi-byte char names under the root.

 

Is this behavior a specification? Or is it an unexpected one (bug) ?

 

The result was the same even if I uncheck all options on Settings->Build->DVD Video options. I also tried ticking "Level X-219 Characters" and "Allow More Than 255 Characters in Path" on ISO9660 tab, but doesn't do any good (short names and path also get screwed). Also tried checking the "DVD Video-Allow Unicode Volume Label" on UDF tab...I know it's irrelevant...and right, it didn't help. Also downloaded a Japanese language pack and tried burning under Japanese UI...neither did it help!

 

I want to burn a DVD Video disc that contains Data folders and files that has multi-byte char names. Are there any ways to circumvent this problem?

+\_MISC

+Multi_byte_char_name_file_1.txt

+Multi_byte_char_name_file_2.txt

+Multi_byte_char_name_file_n.txt

The specs say DVD Video discs can't use Unicode.... so it's forced to 'off'.

 

I have actually already added options to breaks the specs and allow unicode, ready for the release of v2.4.3.0.
