casketizer Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) Hi there ! I have an LG (HP OEM) HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T30L GC04 (F:) (ATA) Burner. Using my usual Memorex 16x DVD+R SL discs the Max writing speed setting would always give me 8x max writing speed with the previous version of ImgBurn. Now with the new Version it always burns at 3.0x when choosing MAX, which is very weird since afaik 3x is only a fallback for bad quality discs and not an official Speed like 2.4x, 4x, 8x. When i manually choose 8x, the discs burn fine at 8x. Is this a bug or a feature? PS: This drive does not support READ speed setting at all (Nero DriveSpeed and CD Bremse confirm this), it is always 8x Max, that is prolly why Max setting works for READing. There is no difference in the logs that i could see except I 01:49:12 Write Speed: 8x vs I 02:37:26 Write Speed: MAX and I 06:19:41 Average Write Rate: 7.677 KB/s (5.5x) - Maximum Write Rate: 11.353 KB/s (8.2x) vs I 10:17:36 Average Write Rate: 4.029 KB/s (2.9x) - Maximum Write Rate: 4.215 KB/s (3.0x) But here they are anyway: 8x: ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.3.0 - Log ; Freitag, 03 April 2009, 06:37:21 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 05:42:32 ImgBurn Version 2.4.3.0 started! Cynthia Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 The issue must be very related to that drive as I can't reproduce it. I 05:06:55 ImgBurn Version 2.4.3.0 started!I 05:06:55 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 05:06:55 Total Physical Memory: 2

mmalves Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Do you have Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools installed on that computer?

LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Please burn another disc on 'MAX' speed but before you click the 'Write' button, press F8. When it's finished burning, press F8 again. Then within the log window, click File -> Save As and save it to a file. Upload that file here. The code to set the write speed hasn't change between the two versions though so this is pretty weird (it's 110% identical).
casketizer Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) I'll do that as soon as I get new SL discs. Prolly Tue or Wed. Oh, and happy Birthday! Edited April 5, 2009 by casketizer
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Have you not got any rewritable ones handy? If anything needs doing then it needs doing today really - in time for 2.4.4.0.
casketizer Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Have you not got any rewritable ones handy? If anything needs doing then it needs doing today really - in time for 2.4.4.0. Sorry been busy burning all weekend, totally out of discs
casketizer Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Don't let this hold up the new Version. I can perfectly work around the problem by creating a profile for the discs i use with 8x speed fixed.
casketizer Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 I found one last disc in my Desktop PC's burner, luckily even the same brand. It is burning now at 3x... will post F8 Log when done.
casketizer Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) Here is the F8 i/O debug log. EDIT: File attached for download, (scroll down). casketizer Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 I only did a few tests since i don't really use the affected burner any more, but it seems it is fixed in 2.4.4.0. Did you find the problem or was there again nothing changed, which would make this even more weird. BTW, the BE06LU10 was not affected.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nothing had been changed for 2.4.3.0 from any previous version but I did make a small tweak in 2.4.4.0 and perhaps your drive just likes what I did.
