Max writing speed setting not working for me in new Version

Hi there !

I have an LG (HP OEM) HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T30L GC04 (F:) (ATA) Burner.

Using my usual Memorex 16x DVD+R SL discs the Max writing speed setting would always give me

8x max writing speed with the previous version of ImgBurn.

Now with the new Version it always burns at 3.0x when choosing MAX, which is very weird since afaik 3x is only a fallback for bad quality discs and not an official Speed like 2.4x, 4x, 8x.

When i manually choose 8x, the discs burn fine at 8x.

Is this a bug or a feature? :)

PS: This drive does not support READ speed setting at all (Nero DriveSpeed and CD Bremse confirm this), it is always 8x Max, that is prolly why Max setting works for READing.

There is no difference in the logs that i could see except

I 01:49:12 Write Speed: 8x

vs

I 02:37:26 Write Speed: MAX

and

I 06:19:41 Average Write Rate: 7.677 KB/s (5.5x) - Maximum Write Rate: 11.353 KB/s (8.2x)

vs

I 10:17:36 Average Write Rate: 4.029 KB/s (2.9x) - Maximum Write Rate: 4.215 KB/s (3.0x)

But here they are anyway:

8x:

The issue must be very related to that drive as I can't reproduce it. :(

Please burn another disc on 'MAX' speed but before you click the 'Write' button, press F8.

When it's finished burning, press F8 again.

Then within the log window, click File -> Save As and save it to a file.

Upload that file here.

The code to set the write speed hasn't change between the two versions though so this is pretty weird (it's 110% identical).

  • 2 weeks later...

I only did a few tests since i don't really use the affected burner any more, but it seems it is fixed in 2.4.4.0. Did you find the problem or was there again nothing changed, which would make this even more weird. :)

BTW, the BE06LU10 was not affected.
