Hi, I have been using Imgburn for a couple of years now but am new to these forums. My problem is being able to control the writing speed of my Samsung TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223Q SB03 (ATA) drive, I am using Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL discs - I want to be able to write at 2.4x only because its the only speed my player likes but no matter how many times I set the speed to 2.4x it always burns at 4x. I have 2 Lite-on burners in another pc and these will allow me to slow the burning down 2.4x but not the Samsung ?? would appreciate any help. Thanks

Slower doesn't always mean a better burn, especially on those Verbatim 8x blanks. My guess is that the slowest supported write speed for that media on your burner is 4x. Can you post the log of the latest dual-layer burn you've done with it? Look in ImgBurn's Help menu.

Anyway, the best dual-layer media is Verbatim 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) blanks, and the newer Samsung drives do better burns on them at 4x

Thanks for your advice

I do still have some 2.4x Verbs but I thought I would give these new ones a try and I like the fact that you can print to the centre on the 8x

anyway here are the logs of the last burn

Thanks for your input guys, I think I will stick to burning the 8x at 2.4x on the lite-on burner - never had a problem this way

These graphs all look good but the real tester has to be whether it will play on your player without freezing or pausing - or perhaps I just have a really fussy player !
