LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ImgBurn sends a command to the drive and then waits for a response to say if it succeeded of failed. By the sounds of it, your machine isn't ever responding. Now that might be due to the drive itself (i.e. not liking those crappy RITEK discs or just generally being a useless drive) or it might be because of a bad filter driver / 3rd party application messing things up. Copy + paste what you see in Tools -> Filter Driver Load Order. Do you have anything like Alcohol 120% / DAEMON Tools installed?
smidgets Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 Sorry about the delay in replying, i was away for a few days... Since my first post i had to wipe the hard drive, SO i made a few adjustments first off down graded to Image burn 2.4.2.0 to see would that help, Secondly i do have DEAMON TOOLS but i disable the virtual drives, Next i installed nero 8 and ran NERO info tools 5, I discovered my drive cannot write dvd-rom. (The INFO TOOL page says it cant write DVD-ROM, But when saved the page it says cant write DVD-RAM) image_burn_post.txt So i've looked everywhere to see could i flash the firmware,Even read somewhere that alot of teac drives where made by benq... So is it possible to flash my teac using benq firmware or do i need another burner... And if so could you recommend an External USB BURNER as my laptop is always on......

smidgets Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Image burn cd/dvd/dl-dvd/blue ray test..... try it if you have problems i finally got image burn working after 1 week and many coasters....... Effectively i had a dyslexic burner.... It could read but couldn't write... So here's my tip for vista premium (IF THAT MATTERS)..... FIRSTLY INSTALL IMAGE BURN 2.4.2.0 two other versions gave me headaches, Then run nero info tools not sure how many versions its in but its in NERO 8 and NERO NINE.... DONT put cd/dvd in drive and make sure the virtual drives for DEAMON TOOLS and any other applications are disabled.... This test is the only one i could find for cd/dvd {also works on blue ray} drives and it should only take a minuite or two' When the test completes the info screen pops up , Check the dvd READ AND WRITE section if every thing has a green check your burner works.... If it has any red x's then u might have a problem especically if's its -ram in the write section..... It took me over a week and a lot of coasters to get here But image burn is worth getting up and running If your drive is the wrong one on the info screen just hit save and scroll down, till the proper one pops up wrote this for anyone burning image dl-dvds If you need a new burner google this one LG GE20 20xExternal super multi DVD rewriter plugged it in and burned New to all this so hoped it helped
mmalves Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 You don't need Ner0 InfoTool in order to use ImgBurn: InfoTool displays information reported by the drive, much like Tools -> Drive -> Capabilities in ImgBurn, and having a red X only means that such feature isn't supported by your drive. It's not an indication of any problem. You should always be using the latest ImgBurn version since older versions have bugs.
smidgets Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) mmalves is right u don't need nero info tools to run image burn so dont go out of your way to download it buy it r install it ... But if you have it, and your new to this then why not use it, its a pretty easy tool to use and understand... The red x will point out what your drive is capabile of not just for ripping DL DVD+r' But also CD................READ...WRITE.........DVD......READ...WRITE........HD DVD.READ...WRITE..........BD.......READ...WRITE -R................................................-R.......................................-R...............X.............X..............-R...........X..........X -RW.............................................-RW....................................-RW............X.............X..............-RE.........X..........X...............(bd = blue ray disc) -TEXT..........................................+R............ ..................... . .. -ROM...........X............X...............-R DL......X..........X +G...............................................+RW.............. .....................-RAM...........X............X...............-RE DL....X..........X C2ERROR..........X.........................-RAM..................................-R DL...........X............X........................................... ...................................................-ROM....................X............-RW DL........X............X............................................ ...................................................-R DL.............................................................................. ...................................................+R DL.............................................................................. .................................. My TEAC DV-W28S-R {COULD NOT SUPPORT ANYTHING WITH AN X} everything else was fine, For a Begginer which i am this was and is a very easy tool to use.... As for image burn 2.4.2.0 THis is a support forum to help people, The hole idea is to read up and see if ANYBODY has r had the same problems as you or i, And see if you can fix them your self, It basicly tells you so before you post, So my advice is to find out what works 4 you and stick to it,Because no 2 computers are the same and there are people looking 4 help on every version of image burn, AND if you upgrade and need help ask more questions because i will eventually..... ALL replies are welcome Image BURN is worth the time and effort...... try it......... Edited April 17, 2009 by smidgets
