ArtVandalay7 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Hello...I have used imgburn many many times without a problem...however, now I have run into a problem verifying a burn which I have tried over 3 times without success. The DVD hangs up when playing so there definitely is a problem... Log: I 21:15:54 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! I 21:15:54 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 21:15:54 Total Physical Memory: 2,086,592 KB - Available: 910,096 KB I 21:15:54 Initialising SPTI... mmalves Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I 21:17:22 Destination Device: [1:0:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-7563A WX05 (D:) (ATA)I 21:17:22 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: CMC MAG. AM3) (Speeds: 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x) I 21:17:22 Write Type: Incremental I 21:17:22 Write Speed: MAX Try burning at 4x to see if you get a better burn. If that doesn't work then try with high quality media such as Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blanks. You may also want to try with DVD+R media. Is there any reason for you to have changed the write type to Incremental?

Will that have a negative effect? I have burned about a hundred files without a problem before this one...
mmalves Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 The default write type ImgBurn uses is DAO/SAO, and Incremental is there as an alternative option for people who need it. Change the write type back to DAO/SAO (Tools -> Settings -> Write tab) and try at 4x with a brand new blank disc.

Change the write type back to DAO/SAO (Tools -> Settings -> Write tab) and try at 4x with a brand new blank disc. that seems to have worked, when I restored all default settings it went back to incremental...interesting. Anyway, I switched it to DAO/SAO and 4X and I think it worked 3 blank DVDs later...thanks!
ArtVandalay7 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 Are you using the program in English? Yes, in English.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Well there no reason for the 'default' to be Incremental then. It certainly isn't programmed that way!
ArtVandalay7 Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) Would the incremental setting make the burn unsuccessful in and of itself or is decreasing the write speed to 4X the more likely reason it finally worked? Edited April 14, 2009 by ArtVandalay7
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 It depends on the drive. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it makes things worse. Either way, the default is DAO/SAO. As for the speed... 8x is normally the ideal speed for SL media. That's using decent stuff though - which yours isn't. Not only that, laptop drives are never any good really.
ArtVandalay7 Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 True, just never had an issue until this recent burn, usually have the write speed on auto and same media (although I know the media is not stellar). Anyway, was able to fix it with everyone's help...much appreciated!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Auto doesn't exist, it means 'AWS' and if you don't configure the AWS feature it just burns at MAX speed.
