AngelFeather Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Hello, I have a small question. I recently started using imgburn. I tried burning a dvd-r which burned fine, but I noticed there is no finalyzing Disc or Writing Lead Out (in nero) in the log. By looking through the forum all posted logs have a line saying finalyzing Disc. So my question is is this normal? Did i do something wrong? Here is my log for writing this disc: I 14:38:54 Operation Started! I 14:38:54 Building Image Tree... I 14:38:54 Checking Directory Depth... I 14:38:54 Calculating Totals... mmalves Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 That would be this bit from the log: I 14:53:49 Synchronising Cache... ImgBurn always finalises discs, so you have nothing to worry about

LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I normally display it in the log exactly as it's named in the MMC specs. Sync Cache is the actual command you send to the drive when you've finished 'writing' the sectors. What the drive does exactly when I issue that command is its business and not mine
AngelFeather Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Yes well, when I used nero it always gave me a message with -Writing Lead Out and Finalising Disc. And Imgburn only gave me a -Synchronising Cache... and went directly ahead with verifying. So I got confused if it actually did finalise. Several searches in de forum only netted me logs with messages like --- Synchronising Cache... Closing Track... Closing Session... Synchronising Cache... Closing Track... Finalising Disc... --- And that got me questioning even more. Since I thought I was missing a few lines. But I guess that is just how my drive works. Thank you both for answoring me.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Different types of media need different commands to be sent to the drive in order to finish off the burn/finalise the disc. DVD-R doesn't need much because you have to tell the drive exactly how big the track is before the burn actually starts rather than saying where it ends (after the burn).
