I'm confused about this because I'm assuming ImgBurn uses Nero's burning engine as I believe DVD Decrypter did.

thats DVD Shrink you're thinking of it had the option of using Decrypters burn engine or Neros

thank you for the replies. well I am not talking about 'ripping'... I am just needing to copy an unprotected CD-ROM (for example a Dell driver disc, etc.) So no laws being broken there, but anyway
I wasn't implying anything only that if a ripping feature was implimented for all those that would be reading non protected discs there would be an equal number or more that would be ripping protected stuff and thats where the legal problems would start and it also led to the demise of my favorite program

Yes of course Nero, Alcohol120, etc can be used but these require lengthy installations and registration and I am charging client by the hour cannot waste too much time downloading etc. What do you all use for quick easy ISO creations that can be carried on USB key for example?
you install those programs once not everytime you work with a client and it doesn't have to be on their time .
Creating ISO's require files to be ripped to the HD and for legal reasons IMGburn will not be implimenting a read/rip feature. Ripping and circumventing the laws against piracy wont be discussed on this forum for obvious reasons .If you read through the forum there was a post about creating ISO's don't remember where and I'm not sure it was a free program, try the search feature at the top of the board

the first optorite I couldn't set the region ,you would set it and then next burn you had to set it again with only 5 X tries for setting region I'd get 5 burns and that would be all .I dealt with Optorite Tech Support who were good about replying they gave me a different firmware for the drive but no good .Next one would set but had power buss problems rma'd that ,third one would only burn at slow speed on Ritek it was an 8x burner a friend who had the same drive burned at 8x on Ritek mine wouldn't .I decided to cut my losses and give up on optorite .I dont see them make any lists for being quality drives and with the price of DVD burners around the $50 mark its no use beating a dead horse I bought an NEC 3500 and its been great ,easy to flash, pretty good on firmware updates, nice burns ,works for me

someone gave me 100 or so blank CD's and when I ran them on DVDinfoPro lo and behold they were CMC's no wonder they looked so pleased giving them away

I bot 2 spindles of Maxell 8X -R's on the weekend. One spindles media code was RITEKG05, good enough, but the other was CMCMAGAE1 ! I'm in the process of making a lot of noise with Maxell. After a phone call I can mail them off for an exchange, but I'm waiting for an explanation, if I don't get a satisfactory answer, they will be going on my Shite List. Unfortunate that a decent company has to stoop to selling shit products.

Maxell is of the opinion that CMCMag media is of a HQ nature
and they will only replace defective media, not unburned ones. I couldn't be bothered to harse about with shite discs, so I now have 50 nice gold Maxell coasters, and I will no longer buy squat fuck from them.you should let them know in no uncertain terms I think "Squat Fuck " covers it nicely

thanks man, got the word today ,don't look for any days off including weekends for the next month or so I don't know if I'm glad about the extra $$$ or not I'm on day 9 without a break and feeling bone tired already

hey everyone, power was turned back on today and cable and the internet came on also .This was my first hurricane and I somehow expected something more like the pictures from last year with Charley .There were some high winds and no rain from the first front of Wilma that I managed to sleep through untill my sister called yelling that they were evacuating West Palm (they weren't ) the eye then passed over and it was really calm and then the winds started again from the other direction .There was plenty of damage, all the fencing on three sides of me was down, transformers knocked down, trees broken and toppled construction trailers mangled, and the bar on the corner had the roof collapse but being true party animals they continued to drink and run generators to keep the beer cold
all the traffic lights were out and the people were great ,didn't see one accident ,everyone stopped and took their turn at the 4 way streets .I have a big Honda generator and we ran 5 houses off it so we had lights ,refrigerators, DVD's ,of which I have a good collection 
and I made a cable that I could power the electric water heaters so we had hot water for showers. I'm back to work full tilt mostly repairing damage at schools so they can re-open Monday although I don't think they will . All in all it was OK, being prepared was the trick ,stock up on canned goods bottled water and stuff like that and you're ok .There are many places that are still without power and FEMA brings ice ,water and some small boxes of food that were basically snacks .Good to be back and thanks to all who were concerned -
its 4:41 am here and the wind chimes outside woke me up they sound like an orchestra .The winds are starting to pick up and gust pretty good .The track for the storm might be a little north of me I hope but they talk like its going to cut across Fla and go up the east coast and dump plenty more water on an already soaked Northeast stay tuned

.Went out tonight and stocked up on food and water I have a generator that will run most of the things in my house , topped off the car and filled a 5 gallon gas can for the generator so I think I'm ready -
I'm in West Palm Beach ,It'll be my first brush with a hurricane but while living in NY I did experience a small earthquake but that was in my wild drinking and partying days and while in bed I felt the movement and had thought I dragged someone home with me after a wild party no such luck

Wow, must be a awful feeling not knowing what to expect........ Up here at most we get the tail end of the storms..... mostly just high winds and rain, enough to damage weaker trees but never any serious property damage. Hope your friends place holds up well Polo.......
and everyone remains safe. before I moved to this house it had the roof blown off it last year during Charley .The construction company I work for is still doing hurricane work from last year and anyone doing roofing is balls to the wall with work. I'm doing a job for Jet Blue and tomorrow we'll go to the site and secure everything there .I dont want to buy an airplane because some of our material damages one

And regardless of which firmware you got in, have you ever had discs failing to start to burn, ie @ about 23*-seconds it should go from leadin to write image, it even goes over a couple of minutes and is not writing anything so i have to cancel, does this with a few diff kinds of media, this is with the old program you were beta on.. just curious to see if this happened to you, thanks

I had this problem way back when I was using the Nec 2500 and the answer was to reduce the burning speed after I did all burned fine ,might work for you

just got in after loading plywood on my friends pickup he will do the stuff at ground level tonight and tomorrow we'll do the rest of his house he's got a feeling we'll get hit if not a hurricane then a bad storm

optorite raises its ugly head ,take no offense but I had an optorite and it was nothing short of crap,worked a little while ,RMA'd it got a new one ,new set of problems ,RMA'd that, different problems then thought if I keep banging my head off a wall whose going to cry first bought a NEC3500 and it works a treat currently I use taiyo yuden and verbatim and the NEC recognizes all the rated speeds of the media

if everything fails at the end then thats another symptom of bad media what you can try is to compress a little more to move you away from the outer part of the disc but then again more compression and low quality media will cause problems also .Untill you get some top media you can make yourself crazy trying to sort this out .If you had an ISO of about 3.5-4 gigs you could see if it burns OK good luck let us know how you make out

yep CMC is crap use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and my old Sony DRU510 A loved Ritek 4x discs I still play dvd's I made with it and all play perfect and its about 3 yrs ago.If you have a Verb maybe you could burn with it and post the log .Like its been said you show all the symptoms of bad media .

like BLU says you would have to shrink the file to dvd5 size or burn dual layer .If you go dual layer use Verbatim discs as they seem to be the only ones that work all the time .
