  1. 1. Post a log

    2. Only use Verbatim, +R, 2.4x, MKM-001-00, Made in Singapore

THANKYOU Mr. lightning from the bottom of my burner

Not sure if this is a compliment as what usually comes out of bottoms? =))

    Regards

  2. I don't know of anything that isn't copy protected these days except the air that I breathe and I've heard there is some legislation in congress to tax that early next year.

And if congress doesn't get you, $ly$oft with their not so lifetime not-so-free updates, will!

    Regards

  3. Actually, from what I read, it isn't in Holland for personal use (the price of blank media is high to cover the assumed loss of profits from the copyright - but with internet ordering from other countries, I expect Dutch residents can get round this).

  4. Well it all depends on the type of stuff on the movie (if it's just grandma sitting round patting the dog or if its full of action like kids running around at top pace amongst the trees) and the number of frames (ie the time) of your video.

As I said, most cams record at absurdly high bitrates for home movies (maybe 6-7000 kpbs constant). You can generally get 2.5 to 3 hours into a DVD5, no problems (subject to it being regular stuff like grandma and puppies). Especially if you re-encode (as opposed to transcode), the quality loss might not be very noticeable at all.

You should try it on one or 2 vids and make a decision then.

    Either way, good luck.

    Regards

  5. The run part will run the disc by double clicking on the exe file.

Why bother? Just put a copied disc in with whatever media is on it (audio, video whatever) and open it in your favourite software media player. No need to extract from an archive (or make one in the first place), create a virtual drive, etc etc.

There are a plethora of media players out there and some even perform pretty well.

    Does that make sense?

No. You are inventing complexity, where none needs to be.

  6. For registry cleaning, I also like:

    - Glary Utilities (free)

    - Registry Mechanic (commercial)

    - jv16 Power Tools (commercial, but an old freeware edition exists which doesn't look as snazzy but does the trick)

but you need to know how to drive them (or be scrupulous in making registry backups)

Eraser is great for permanetly getting rid of files.

There are many defraggers out there - Diskeeper (payware) is perhaps the most popular, though there are many others which perhaps are as good or better.

And for undeletes, try Recuver (freeware).

    Regards
