Well, registration for that forum wasn't actually easy! The captcha it wanted me to enter to verify I'm human contained an Omega symbol! How the Hell am I supposed to enter THAT on a keyboard!? I asked for another captcha and got something I COULD enter in the second time. Anyway, I posted my results there.

Couldn't hurt to look into the issue, I suppose.

It's been like 2 years since the software was last updated, so, I'd doubt it would do any good.

I'm just going to switch back to Winamp for playing audio CD's! I had switched off of Winamp because it stopped recognizing my CD drives to rip from. Now with all the limitations of this plugin coupled with the fact that Winamp now properly rips and plays on my drives, plus that it reads CD Text and reads it properly, I'll switch to Winamp. Now, Winamp is still bitching, though. One of my 2 CD drives does NOT show up in the Play context menu, but, I can select the drive for playing from the Media library.

OK, I've proven that there are some limitations and design flaws in it, but, it rudimentarily works. You just have to remember to use the Read CD Text context menu item to get proper CD Text and that even if you disable the automatic conversion of uppercase, it will still do the conversion. SHEESH! But, it beats installing something like Easy CD Creator 6 just to read CD Text.

Reripped it. Got better but STILL INCORRECT name of 01 Cd Text Test Title Track 1- In The Navy.mp3. SHOULD be 01 CD Text Test Title Track 1- In The Navy.mp3

Ripping returns garbage text data for MP3 file name! 01 ©‚þá€H`6¨ þŽaÈ(Vž¾èpN¤4{È V˜]êO,4 צÔzßc )Êž×(^¼{1ãTIÿvÀ&Ð · ¶‰¶æöÊÆ× Þ.mp3

Now, this PROVES the plug in is fucked up! I repeatedly used the Read CD Text context menu and the Track kept switching back and forth between the garbage text I posted before AND what it was incorrectly STILL returning as Cd Text Test Title Track 1: In The Navy.
-
For example, here's a returned value: ©‚þá€H`6¨þŽaÈ(Vž¾èpN¤4{È V˜>êO,4צÔzßc)Êž×(^tle Track 1: In The Navy The text should ACTUALLY read: CD Text Test Title Track 1: In The Navy

It also wants to automatically convert non leading captials to lower case in Track names even IF the option to convert uppercase to lowercase is disabled.

I believe LUK is right. I have the Sony Optiarc 7261S OB and mine is black.
-
Actually, just discovered it DOES work. It just doesn't work very well. The automatic retrieval of CD Text returns the garbage text. Right clicking on the right pane and using the Read CD Text context menu option DOES return the correct CD Text.

This plugin does NOT work properly! I had inserted my CD with CD Text on it and the plugin in WMP returned garbage text for the Track title. So, I recreated it using ImgBurn to create the new CD with CD Text. I had tested that disc on the old computer and the CD Text work. I inserted the SAME disk on this new PC to test it and it returned garbage text for the Track name! So, I recreated the disc using ImgBurn and tested it again. AGAIN the plugin returned garbage text for the Track name. So, either the plugin does not work or ImgBurn does not write CD Text properly to a disc. This plugin has been nothing but problems on 2 separate computers. ImgBurn rarely has a problem working. Ergo, I lean towards the plugin being the culprit.

IC. As I said, you need the IFO to match streams.

Doesn't Media Player Classic play VOB files by double clicking on them? PowerDVD will, but, it is, as a general rule, as LUK said. You don't play VOB files directly. You need a DVD player software playing the IFO files to properly get audio and video

Was that Shamus who had had the cat problem? I remember thinking his was a cat had done something to some cables, maybe, instead of a disc.

option to disable prompt for layer break position?
dbminter replied to reapur's topic in ImgBurn Support
I once asked for a way to disable the layer break prompt. Got the same answer. I never tried it out, though, because I'd had to mess with the settings and get DVD+R DL's to not play properly. -
When you say it's burning as a movie file, what exactly do you mean? .AVI, .MPG, .MOV, .DIVX what? Also when you say it won't play PAL or NTSC files, what exactly do you mean? The DVD HAS to be either PAL or NTSC. There's no other choice. In order to play on a standard DVD player, the ISO image contents must contain a VIDEO_TS folder inside it. Unless your player also plays other file formats like .DIVX, as some players do, there must be a VIDEO_TS folder.

Unfortunately, most brick and mortar store offerings use cheap CMC Magnetics Corporation discs. I would not trust these, ever. So, I can't tell you what is good, but, I can tell you some things to avoid as they use CMC. Don't get HP, Verbatim, or Imation.

Is that Defensor I see as your avatar?

DVD+R DL discs do the same thing. They start at 4x then grow to 8x then drop back to 4x near the end of the burn. LiteOn drives sometimes do similar things to rewritable DVD's. 6x DVD-RW start at 4x then grow to 6x. 8x DVD+RW start at 6x then grow to 8x.

Having had a bad experience with them, I am warning people off of slim Playstation 2 models. They choke in parts of recorded DVD's that other players have no problem playing at the same parts on.
-
I currently have that Optiarc model installed in my machine. I can't complain about Optiarcs in the past I've used. Except that they hated Ritek 6x DVD-RW's and would never start a Verify on them. Unfortunately, I can't really gauge the Optiarc's performance as I had numerous system problems in the PC related to SATA and USB drives.

How do I span a burn over multiple disks ?
dbminter replied to DeViLzzz2011's topic in ImgBurn Support
IF the image is a DVD Video image, of course. Otherwise, DVDShrink won't do. -
In conjunction with my MP3-CD application question, anyone have a program they'd recommend for creating DVD-Audio content? Again, preferably free. Thanks!
