Oh, there will never be a mouse that fits my hand comfortably. Did you know part of me is 8 inches? My wrist! No, I never fit comfortably in this word built for normals. For I am Ozymandius, king of men! My preference for the optical mouse is because the standard mouse was NEVER made to be cleaned easily. Yet, it MUST be cleaned because of its very construction.
-
Actually, I have several brand new mice from various computers over the years that I could use. But, after I went optical, I never want to go back! The last time I had to clean a mouse nut or the contacts was to use a mouse on a computer at the library to browse the catalog. It wasn't working, so, I opened it up and sure enough, the contacts were filthy.

Nope, tried that. The foot is made of some kind of material that isn't condusive to store glue. Or, the surface where it was originally stuck on isn't. The glue isn't sticking, bottom line, for whatever reason.

It's interesting what we come across. I will have to replace my optical mouse. After about, oh, what, 7 years for an entirely stupid reason. One of the rubber feet came off! So, it drags and breaks the "contact" of the light, resulting in jagging mouse movements. And, to think, it wasn't the laser as I expected to go out... but a damn, stupid carbon bond breakdown from a simple adhesive!

Well, they ARE the superior form of life. BUT, remember, it was Van Staten who said that, not the Dalek. And, no, I don't accept what Daleks say. Remember their psychological profile from the Doctor Who role playing game supplements: Daleks will lie when it suits them.

You're just jealous of my magnanimous powers of retention! I can see something once and recall lines.

Makes one wonder how many cures there are for things. How was it put in Dalek? "Why sell a cure when I can sell a thousand pallatives?"

Don't get your hopes up TOO high. Unless you actually see this monstrosity in action, mere screen captures cannot begin to express who many people got cheated out of their money... which is why certain useful nets are helpful.

I can remember buying 8088's and the like really cheap to use as print servers for various businesses in the past.

Eh, these fuckers NEVER make it easy, do they? In other words, I guess, DO I need this update? http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/do...=ShockwaveFlash WHAT is this? I installed it and I'm nowhere near closer to even seeing WHAT this is, actually. Just that's Adobe Flash Player 9.0.16.0. My Add/Remove still has Macromedia Flash Player 8, version 8.0.22.0 and something called Adobe Shockwave Player, BUT, I don't know if this installed it. Especially since it's version is listed as 10.1.3.18! As far as I know, I don't know IF anything was installed or updated!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! IT CAN'T BE!

Yeah, right. Ya just won't admit it. After all, it's the same type of purient minds that invented Abducted By The Daleks.

See what $68, American, will buy you now? http://www.directron.com/gxa.html

Of course, they don't make it easy, do they. Thanks!

I never approached it that way. Never thought of the StartUp items as Services. Are they really Services, though? I never paid any attention, but, wouldn't they have different names in StartUp, e.g. sometimes just their executable name, versus a more robust full name in the Services MMC? Plus, stopping them wouldn't necessarily be the same as removing them from StartUp, because they may just go into Manual mode. The way I see it working best, probably, is the WinBatch idea. That way, I can keep 1 variable, a list within the code, where all the things I want removed are. As opposed to having to keep track of multiple .REG files. Or, it may be possible to just add them all to one file. I forget. Is there a command to put into a .REG file that will delete a key? I know how to add them. That was simple enough. Take, for instance, removing a dreaded entry, the Time Sink ad bot: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "TimeSink Ad Client"="\"C:\\Program Files\\TimeSink\\AdGateway\\TSADBOT.EXE\"" This is a .REG file would add the key. But, what, if anything, can be used to say take it out of the .REG? If such a thing can be done. Oh, NO way! Microsoft COULDN'T have ACTUALLY made it THIS simple?! Simply use [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] to remove the entire branch and "TimeSink Ad Client"=- to remove the key?!

Oh, yeah, like no one else imagined Daleks with their eyestalks replaced by cocks!
-
I've heard that Daleks will have their globes replaced with boobs! Their battle cry will be "IN-SEM-IN-ATE!" and they will called Daliks.

Digi; After reading up the link you sent me, it seems that the service must be running in order to make the changes listed? I tried to get any information on Services I already Disabled, leading me to believe they must be running in order to use this to do anything I need. Plus, it's still too Greek to me. I just want the ability to, say, use SC to always set a StartUp Type for a Service to be Disabled, even if the Service isn't running. Say, a common Service I always Disable because I never need it. ClipBook.

No Run under HKCU. The other key doesn't really appear to be of much use without some advanced programming to search the Registry. I suppose I might be able to create something in WinBatch to get the keys and compare them to a list, deleting entries if found. Then, updating the code would be just as easy as inserting a name into the list. I was hoping, so, should have known better that there might be a list of everything that has ever appeared, ala the way MCU's StartUp ACTUALLY works and that there would be keys with 1 or 0 or the like for on and off. Like the check boxes in MCU. Microsoft idiots! But, this gives me something to try. Thanks!

Anyone know of a quick/easy/any way to determine what version number of the Adobe Flash Player is currently installed? Or a way to check for updates? Thanks!

Nope, but sometimes, you look for surrogates. Even you married guys! Yeah, you think wives don't know?
